Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Monroe Chen (ranked 24198 p4p, 0 weight class) and Skip Scooby (ranked 6111 p4p, 0 weight class). Skip Scooby has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Alan Glass and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Scooby lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Scooby.
It looks like Monroe Chen has been cut.
Scooby throws a left and a right that both miss
and Chen counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Chen.
Scooby has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Scooby tightens his grip and picks Chen up, before dumping him to the ground. Chen manages to land in guard.
Scooby lands a couple of digs.
Scooby throws an elbow that misses. Chen uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Scooby's guard. Nice move by Chen!
Chen is working Scooby over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Scooby looking for a guillotine here but Chen defends easily.
Scooby had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Chen defends it easily.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Scooby is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Chen is aware though and is defending well.

Chen has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Scooby stands up and waves to Chen to follow him.

Scooby throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Scooby throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Scooby shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Scooby wants to work for an arm triangle but Chen is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Chen is looking for a sweep. Scooby is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Scooby looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Chen with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Scooby is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Chen reverses the position - he's now on top in Scooby's guard.
Chen postures up and lands a big shot to Scooby's brow.

Scooby has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Chen can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Scooby throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Chen.

Scooby rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Chen moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
The fight moves into the clinch position.
Chen jumps guard and drags Scooby to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!
Scooby throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Chen.
A momentary lapse in concentration from Chen enables Scooby to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Chen manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Chen pushes Scooby off and gets back to his feet.
Scooby shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Chen is trying to defend but Scooby finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Scooby takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Scooby looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Chen escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Chen is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Scooby doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Chen.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Monroe Chen.
