Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Everett Cohen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Alejandro Barbarosa! The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Daniel Blasius and Saam Ante.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Barbarosa clinches. Barbarosa jumps into guard, dragging Cohen to the mat.
Barbarosa pulls Cohen in close to prevent any damage. Cohen lands a couple of elbows. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cohen throws a strike but Barbarosa rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Cohen not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Cohen keeping moving, preventing Barbarosa from controlling successfully. Barbarosa throwing strikes but missing. Cohen really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Barbarosa trying to control the position from guard on top but Cohen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's one minute gone in the round. Barbarosa not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Barbarosa loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Cohen trying to control the position here. Cohen trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. Barbarosa trying to control the position from guard on top but Cohen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Barbarosa would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Cohen gets caught napping as Barbarosa dives in and scores a takedown. Cohen manages to retain guard. Cohen will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Cohen seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Barbarosa working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Barbarosa stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cohen swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Barbarosa wants to control from the top but Cohen keeps moving. Barbarosa might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Cohen haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Barbarosa decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Cohen, up you get! Barbarosa goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
It looks like Everett Cohen has been cut. Cohen tries to keep at a distance but Barbarosa has taken the fight into the clinch. Barbarosa lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Barbarosa decides to return to a standing position. Barbarosa closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Barbarosa jumps guard.
Barbarosa not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Barbarosa has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Cohen off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Cohen tries to keep at a distance but Barbarosa has taken the fight into the clinch. Cohen lands a body shot. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Barbarosa breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Barbarosa has closed the distance and engaged Cohen in a clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Alejandro Barbarosa dominated that round. The cut man is working on Everett Cohen's cut. That's time! Cohen's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Barbarosa clinches. Barbarosa digs a right hand into Cohen's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Cohen's gas tank. Barbarosa lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Barbarosa wants to control but Cohen is keeping him busy. Cohen trying to control from the bottom.
Cohen controlling the position for now. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Barbarosa wants to stand up but Cohen has a hold of him and won't allow it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cohen trying to control here.
Cohen is controlling Barbarosa's trapped leg to prevent Barbarosa from advancing to side control. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
That's one minute gone in the round. Barbarosa wants to control but Cohen is keeping him busy.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Cohen walks forward, straight into a front kick from Barbarosa. Barbarosa throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Cohen was covering up waiting for the punch and Barbarosa finishes the takedown easily into guard. The fighters are working up against the cage. Cohen manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage. Cohen tries for a takedown. No joy.
Barbarosa prevents Cohen from breaking the clinch. Cohen has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Barbarosa avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Barbarosa is struggling to control the position. Barbarosa has picked Cohen up - he's going for a ride! Barbarosa dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Cohen blocking the ground and pound attempt from Barbarosa. Barbarosa is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Barbarosa controlling from mount. Barbarosa looking to finish Cohen with some ground and pound. This is bad for Cohen! Cohen keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Barbarosa is landing with some decent strikes but Cohen is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Barbarosa lands a couple of good shots and Cohen has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
Cohen is rocked! Cohen defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Barbarosa's arms. Oh Cohen is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Alejandro Barbarosa has got the better of the ground game so far. Barbarosa has good solid back control here. Barbarosa looking for the choke but no joy. You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Barbarosa drops a couple of huge strikes from the back position and Cohen is in real trouble here! Barbarosa lands more strikes and the referee has to step in to end the fight! Barbarosa is delighted!
