Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tony Flames!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Miguel Garces!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, William Peck and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Garces closes this distance looking for a takedown but Flames circles away.
Garces is trying hard to land a takedown here. Flames sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Garces defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Flames.
Garces follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land.
Garces fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Tony Flames has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Miguel Garces.
Garces tries for a takedown but Flames circles away easily
and Flames counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Garces will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Flames is looking to counter the offense by Garces and move into the clinch.
Garces shoots in looking for a takedown but Flames manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Garces's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Garces tries to close the distance and clinch but Flames swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Flames shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Garces as he jumps to the side.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Flames decides to stand back up.
Garces will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Garces goes for a takedown in the clinch but Flames prevents it.

Flames has Garces pulled in close to control his posture.
Garces lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Flames trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

Garces trying to stand up but can't free himself from Flames's guard.
Flames is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Garces is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Garces stops Flames from standing up.
Garces in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Garces distracts Flames with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Garces postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Flames has a closed guard, preventing Garces from standing up.

Garces drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Flames dives on top into guard.

Garces is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Flames is aware though and is defending well.

Flames passes Garces's left leg - he's now in half guard.

That was a close round but I would say that Tony Flames will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Garces looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Flames has picked Garces up and slammed him! Garces can't keep hold of the triangle and Flames manages to pass to side control!
Garces wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Flames thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Garces can't do much from the bottom here.
Garces seems a little lost for a moment, as Flames dominates the positioning.
Garces is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Flames is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

Garces tries to control the position but Flames now has his back.
Tony Flames overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Flames working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.
Flames is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Garces can do to turn this around?

Flames controlling the position well here. Garces rolled but Flames kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

Flames is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Garces defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

Garces fails with the takedown

and Flames counters by clinching up.
Flames jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Garces walks away with a smile on his face. Flames gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Flames tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Garces manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Flames displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Garces.
Tony Flames is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Flames bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Flames throws a shot to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Garces tries to clinch up but Flames circles away and keeps his distance.
Horrible takedown attempt by Flames or perhaps it was just good defense by Garces, which made it look bad.

Garces moves into the clinch.
Garces takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Garces wants to break free but Flames has control.
Flames blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Flames escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Garces takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Flames is trying to drag Garces to the mat but Garces just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Flames jumps into guard, dragging Garces to the mat.

Flames escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Garces gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Garces gets to his feet - Flames follows without any prompting.
Flames jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Flames avoids a punch combination nicely.

Flames closes the distance and pushes Garces back into the cage.

Flames tries to pull guard but Garces won't allow it.
Flames is trying to pull guard but Garces has him pressed against the cage.

Garces drags the fight down to the ground.

Garces is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Flames is pushing down on Garces's leg trying to pass to half guard. Garces is fighting to maintain full guard but Flames has managed to sneak the leg through.
Flames wants to pass to mount but Garces is defending the position.
Flames is looking to take a break and control but Garces is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Garces is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Flames pulls his head out easily.
Garces is refusing to be controlled, as Flames sits in half guard.

Garces wants to control but Flames is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Flames sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Garces defending well though.

Flames decides to stand and escape the position.
Flames changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Garces tries to avoid it but Flames manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Garces to the ground. Garces escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Garces misses with a straight right.

Flames rushes Garces and presses him up against the cage.
Flames prevents the takedown attempt.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Flames's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Tony Flames showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Flames has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
