PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kareem Dennis (ranked 2231 p4p, 298 weight class) and Trametinib Mekinist (ranked 3278 p4p, 393 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, Kareem Dennis !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Trametinib Mekinist!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, John Mangel and Darius Henderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mekinist drops Dennis with a right and a left! Mekinist comes rushing in but Dennis regains his composure and manages to keep Mekinist in guard.


Dennis is rocked!
Mekinist is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Oh Dennis is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Dennis will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Dennis looking for a guillotine here but Mekinist defends easily.

Dennis is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Dennis really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Mekinist got a little sloppy there for a moment and Dennis has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Mekinist has managed to get both his arms back between Dennis 's legs - danger averted.

Dennis working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mekinist doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mekinist manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Dennis has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Mekinist is working away from the top position though.

Dennis has his hands clasped together around Mekinist's back. He's all about the action.
Mekinist wants to pass the guard but Dennis is defending well.
Dennis is staying active underneath Mekinist, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Mekinist perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Mekinist prevents Dennis from improving his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dennis has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Mekinist is working away from the top position though.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Dennis wants to control but Mekinist is keeping busy.
Mekinist wants to pass to mount but Dennis is defending the position.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Trametinib Mekinist dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Mekinist throws a looping overhand right but Dennis ducks down to avoid it.
Mekinist comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Mekinist misses with a few strikes there.
Dennis tries to counter with a takedown but Mekinist is quick to defend against it.
Mekinist fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Dennis half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Dennis looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Dennis on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
A swing and a miss from Mekinist.
Dennis keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Mekinist tries to clinch but Dennis moves away

and Dennis counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Mekinist trying to control the position.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Dennis 's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Dennis landing with the ground and pound.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Dennis chips away with some ground and pound.
Dennis throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Dennis lands a couple of elbows.
Mekinist controls Dennis momentarily but Dennis frees himself.
Dennis advances to half guard.
Dennis thows a huge punch but Mekinist dodges it nicely.

Mekinist is defending against the submission attempts here by Dennis .

Dennis is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Dennis is working for a kimura but Mekinist is defending it quite comfortably.

Dennis is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Mekinist has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.

Dennis maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Mekinist could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Dennis has cracked it and Mekinist is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Dennis !

Kareem Dennis spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
