PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Travis Parker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Donnie Stevens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Parker comes into the arena with Nirvana - Heart Shaped Box blaring out of the sound system. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Viktor Lagutenko and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Parker tries to clinch but Stevens moves out of range.
Stevens keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Nice combo by Stevens! Oh, that's hurt him - Parker falls to the canvas and Stevens follows him into side control.

Stevens wants to lay and pray for a moment but Parker keeps working.

Stevens tries to stand but Parker controls the position and pulls Stevens into his guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Parker bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Parker perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Parker's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Stevens wants to get back to full guard.
Parker seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Parker seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Stevens for as long as he can get away with.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Donnie Stevens will probably get the nod.

Parker shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Stevens as he avoids it easily.

Stevens stalks Parker and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Parker's face. Parker staggers backwards, shaken.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Parker is on top in guard.

Stevens fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Parker is out of range.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

and Stevens counters with a series of strikes. Parker will be more careful next time no doubt.
Travis Parker is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Parker takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Stevens tries to bum rush Parker with a series of wild strikes but Parker uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Parker looks frusrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Donnie Stevens showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round!


Parker tries for a takedown but Stevens sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Parker takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Stevens tries to land a front kick but Parker steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Stevens takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Parker has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Parker has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Stevens can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Stevens lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Stevens.

Parker throws a head kick that misses.
Parker throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Stevens's waist but Stevens gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Parker off to one side.

Parker jumps guard but Stevens stands there with Parker around his waist. Parker gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Stevens is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Parker pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Stevens misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Parker.

Parker manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Stevens manages to get himself to full guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Stevens can do anything to dispel that myth.

Parker looks up at the clock and then as Stevens takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Parker smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Donnie Stevens comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Stevens winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
