Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dan Eggman (ranked 15944 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Hughs (ranked 6721 p4p, 0 weight class). Dan Eggman has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 24 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dan Eggman! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
50 - 62 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Joe Hughs! The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Elvis Blanc and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Eggman fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Hughs throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body. Hughs has a takedown stuffed. Eggman shoots for a double leg takedown but Hughs sprawls well. He's pushed Eggman's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Eggman uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Hughs.
Eggman shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Hughs sprawls well. Hughs wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Eggman gets slowly back to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dan Eggman. That's going to take a lot out of him. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hughs closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Hughs lands in his opponent's guard. Eggman kicks Hughs off and gets to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hughs goes for a double leg but Eggman avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Eggman continues to drive forward. That's two minutes gone in the round. Eggman moves into range and clinches up with Hughs. Hughs is trying to break free. Eggman trying to land knees to the body.
Hughs unloads a knee to the mid-section. Eggman lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. Eggman tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Eggman jumps guard but Hughs turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Eggman missing with knees to the body.
Hughs breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Dan Eggman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Eggman shoots in for a takedown but Hughs shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Eggman really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Nice takedown defense from Hughs. No joy for Eggman on that attempt. Eggman with a poor takedown and Hughs counters with a one-two to the body. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Eggman wants to clinch up but Hughs keeps it at a distance. Hughs is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

Eggman went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. Hughs misses with a takedown and Eggman counters with a lovely shot to the body. Hughs has his takedown stuffed and Eggman counters with a two punch combo. Eggman misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Hughs looking to score a takedown here. Eggman is defending well but Hughs drives through and ends up in Eggman's guard. Eggman uses the cage to get back to his feet.
This has been an exciting period of action! Hughs blocks a head kick by Eggman.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Eggman shoots and misses and Hughs counters by moving into the clinch. Hughs lands an elbow inside that Eggman shrugs off. Hughs misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Eggman.
Eggman wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Hughs missing with knees to the body.
Eggman escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Hughs tries for a takedown but Eggman sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Eggman gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Hughs counters by moving into the clinch. Eggman stalling.

A close round but Joe Hughs will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Eggman goes for a double leg but Hughs avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Hughs continues to drive forward. and Eggman counters with a nice uppercut. Eggman closes the distance and clinches up with Hughs, looking for a takedown. Eggman pushes Hughs against the cage but Hughs circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Hughs is trying hard to land a takedown here. Eggman sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Hughs is breathing heavily. No joy there for Eggman, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

The fighters are pinned against the cage. Eggman manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Eggman is looking to counter the offense by Hughs and move into the clinch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hughs throws a right and a left that Eggman avoids nicely. Eggman tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Hughs manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Hughs raises up his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick. Hughs tries for a takedown but Eggman sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Hughs moves out of range of the body kick. Hughs looks for the body kick but Eggman saw that one coming. Hughs closes the distance and clinches up with Eggman, looking for a takedown. Hughs pushes Eggman against the cage but Eggman circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Eggman fails with the takedown. Hughs is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own. Eggman connects with a body shot that sends Hughs's belly button to the back. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Both fighters are breathing heavily. Hughs rushes Eggman and presses him up against the cage. Hughs using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Eggman has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Ground and pound from Hughs. Hughs throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Eggman is looking to improve his position.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Hughs stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Eggman swivels though and keeps the full guard. Hughs scoring with punches to the head and body. Hughs looking to pass the guard. Hughs trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Hughs working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Eggman not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Eggman looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Hughs drives through and clinches with Eggman against the cage.
Hughs pushes off an throws an elbow but Eggman leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage. Eggman pulls guard. Hughs throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Eggman works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Hughs throws a big right hand that misses. Eggman looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Hughs being controlled here momentarily.
And that's the end of the fight! Joe Hughs comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Hughs has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
