PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Nikki Raikonen (ranked 4146 p4p, 469 weight class) and Sgt James Doakes (ranked 2762 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Nikki Raikonen has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Nikki Raikonen seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Doakes darts in and clinches Raikonen up against the cage.

Doakes pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Doakes fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Raikonen, pushing him back against the cage.
Doakes struggles to land a body shot inside as Raikonen controls his hands.

Doakes breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Raikonen drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Doakes is pressed up against the cage. Raikonen has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Doakes down to the mat. Doakes avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Doakes moves into the clinch.
Raikonen tries to break the clinch but Doakes is controlling the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Raikonen tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Doakes smiles and moves away.

Doakes lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Doakes has Raikonen pressed against the cage, preventing Raikonen from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Doakes lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Raikonen backwards.

Raikonen drops down looking for an ankle pick but Doakes pulls his leg out and moves away.

Raikonen tries a body shot but Doakes blocks it.
Raikonen's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

Doakes looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Doakes lands a right hand.
Oh Raikonen is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Doakes lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.

Doakes lands with a right to the head.

Doakes drops Raikonen onto one knee with a big uppercut from the clinch! Raikonen is propped up by the cage and works his way back to his feet!
Doakes pushes Raikonen against the cage. Doakes is working some dirty boxing. Doakes pushes off with a quick right hook! Raikonen goes down! Raikonen tries to stand but stumbles back to his kness! Doakes moves in to finish and the ref steps in to prevent any more damage!
