Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Darrell Mayo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Alejandro Barbarosa! The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Aafke Stam and Radbod Blank.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mayo forces Barbarosa back against the cage and clinches. Barbarosa has hold of one of Mayo's legs. Mayo is fighting the takedown attempt but Barbarosa gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Barbarosa won't allow Mayo to sweep him here. Barbarosa sitting in guard here, content to control. Barbarosa won't allow Mayo to get back to his feet. Barbarosa controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Barbarosa's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Let's hope that Barbarosa has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Barbarosa shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Mayo pushes Barbarosa off and gets back to his feet.
A momentary lapse in concentration from Barbarosa enables Mayo to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Barbarosa manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Mayo is stalling in the full guard. Mayo is fighting to break Barbarosa's control of his arms but Barbarosa is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Mayo is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Barbarosa is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Barbarosa has escaped and now he's on top!
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Mayo is trying to control the position but Barbarosa postures up. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Barbarosa is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Barbarosa looking to pass the guard. Barbarosa passes Mayo's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Barbarosa wants to work for an arm triangle but Mayo is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Barbarosa controlling the action here. Mayo is trying to get back to full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Barbarosa seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. More stalling from Barbarosa. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Mayo wants to control but Barbarosa is keeping busy and won't allow it. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Barbarosa in particular looking to stall. Mayo really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Mayo is staying active underneath Barbarosa, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Barbarosa passes the guard and advances to mount! Mayo taking shots to the head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mayo tries to hold on but Barbarosa pushes him away. Mayo sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Barbarosa wants to pass the guard but Mayo is defending well. Barbarosa lands strikes from half guard. Mayo is doing well to control the position and prevent Barbarosa from advancing to side control. Mayo trying to control but Barbarosa postures up.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Mayo is trying to get back to full guard. Mayo trying to control but Barbarosa postures up.

Barbarosa shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Mayo manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Barbarosa is standing up over Mayo. Mayo looks to escape but Barbarosa dives into side control.
Barbarosa wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mayo keeps working. Mayo tries to bench press Barbarosa off him but Barbarosa keeps the position. Mayo trying to remain calm as Barbarosa controls from the top position. Barbarosa trying to control the position but Mayo is working away. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mayo is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Barbarosa decides to take the fight back to the feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mayo tries to keep at a distance but Barbarosa has taken the fight into the clinch. The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch. Mayo is working for takedown but Barbarosa is calmly controlling the position for now. Mayo looking for a takedown. Barbarosa pulls Mayo into guard.
Barbarosa working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mayo doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mayo manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Barbarosa manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Mayo manages to get himself to full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Mayo is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Mayo is working hard here to advance position. Barbarosa stays in close to Mayo's body and controls the position. Barbarosa stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mayo swivels though and keeps the full guard. Barbarosa stands up over Mayo, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Barbarosa content to stall in guard here. Barbarosa lands a couple of decent looking shots.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mayo is trying to keep Barbarosa in close.
Alejandro Barbarosa has got the better of the ground game so far. Barbarosa stands and throws Mayo's legs to the side, diving into side control. Mayo tries to improve position but can't. Mayo struggling a bit here. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Barbarosa scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Mayo to see if he's OK. Mayo trying to remain calm as Barbarosa controls from the top position. Mayo trying to control but Barbarosa flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back! Barbarosa lands strikes to the head. Barbarosa lands with a big left hand that may well have hurt his opponent. Can Mayo hold on?!
Mayo won't enjoy being in this position. Barbarosa looking for the choke. Oh... he's slipped the arm under the neck - Mayo is tapping - it's over boys! Barbarosa picks up the submission victory!
