The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Fokin closes the distance and clinches. Smith jumps guard and drags Fokin to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Fokin advances position into side control! Score +3 for passing guard: Smith (0) vs (3) Fokin Fokin controls the position from side control. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Smith is trying to improve his position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smith wants to control but Fokin postures up. Fokin wants to control but Smith is keeping him busy. Smith prevents Fokin from moving into mount. Smith is looking to reverse the position. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Smith has one of Fokin's arms on lockdown, trying to prevent him from doing any damage. Smith is trying to escape the position but Fokin is controlling the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Smith is looking to reverse the position. Fokin is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Smith is trying to escape and Fokin transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Smith is forced to tap! Nice work there by Fokin! Very nice indeed!
