PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between dick dragon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Josh Koscheck (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, dick dragon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Josh Koscheck!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Daniel Franklin and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab from dragon misses.
Koscheck uses good head movement to avoid the hook from dragon.
dragon misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
dragon really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Koscheck scores with a takedown into dragon's guard.
dragon is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

dragon seems to be looking for submissions.
dragon wants to lay and pray for a moment but Koscheck keeps working.
dragon not landing any meaningful shots this time.

dragon is working for a kimura but Koscheck is defending it quite comfortably.
dragon prevents Koscheck from improving his position.

dragon tries to stand and escape but Koscheck is controlling the position.

Koscheck with the active half guard here but dragon passes nicely into side control.

dragon breaks from Koscheck's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Koscheck is in all sorts of trouble here.

BOOM! dragon connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Koscheck can't escape the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

dragon looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Koscheck tries to hold on but dragon pushes him away.

Koscheck really doesn't want to stay on the ground with dragon. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Koscheck tries to get back to half guard but can't.

dragon throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
dragon looking to control but Koscheck is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Koscheck is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
dragon misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
dragon thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Koscheck is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
dragon throws some wild stikes that Koscheck manages to avoid easily.
Koscheck is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.

dragon has hold of Koscheck's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Koscheck manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Koscheck keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
dragon misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Koscheck shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

dragon wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.

Koscheck is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But dragon has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from dragon!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Koscheck throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
dragon postures up in Koscheck's guard and throws a big left but Koscheck blocks it.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Koscheck shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Koscheck was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Koscheck prevents dragon from getting the reversal.
dragon sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
dragon is trying to maintain the position but Koscheck is very close to passing his half guard.
dragon is trying to stand back up but Koscheck is controlling him
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Josh Koscheck showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

dragon is trying to stand but he's not in a good position to be doing that! Koscheck has taken his back!

Koscheck looking for the RNC.
Koscheck lands punches and elbows.
dragon breaks Koscheck's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

dragon drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and dragon jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

dragon would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Koscheck closes the distance and clinches.
Koscheck lands a hook that snaps the head of dragon backwards.

Koscheck tightens his grip and picks dragon up, before dumping him to the ground. dragon manages to land in guard.
dragon manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Poor strikes thrown by dragon there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

dragon swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Koscheck is now in dragon's guard. A big mistake from dragon there, giving up the dominant position!

dragon wants to stand and escape but Koscheck is having none of it.

dragon is working an open guard so Koscheck takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Koscheck blocks a head kick by dragon.

Koscheck changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. dragon looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
dragon is trying to buck Koscheck off.

And that's the end of the fight!
Josh Koscheck comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Koscheck has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
