Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Sepi Kumpulainen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Robert Ylvinge!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Matti Vanhoillinen and Anni Minnemäki.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kumpulainen shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Ylvinge pinned against the cage. Ylvinge gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Ylvinge is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Jab by Ylvinge.
Horrible takedown by Kumpulainen or perhaps it was just good defense by Ylvinge which made him look bad.
Ylvinge misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kumpulainen shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Kumpulainen showed some decent athleticism there.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Kumpulainen is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Ylvinge has managed to free his arm - good work.
Kumpulainen is trying to control the action in half guard but Ylvinge is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Ylvinge keeping hold of Kumpulainen's head, controlling as best he can.
Kumpulainen trying to mount his opponent but Ylvinge defends it.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Ylvinge is trying to maintain the position but Kumpulainen is very close to passing his half guard.
Kumpulainen has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Ylvinge defend it? Kumpulainen steps over the head and cranks it - Ylvinge is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Kumpulainen!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:23 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Sepi Kumpulainen!
