Wierzbowski comes to the cage accompanied by Sabaton - 40:1. Jimmy Block is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Przemyslaw Wierzbowski! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jimmy Block! The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Columbo Gatti and Russell Pearce.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wierzbowski looking to score a takedown here. Block is defending well but Wierzbowski drives through and ends up in Block's guard. Wierzbowski looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Wierzbowski drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Wierzbowski jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Block is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Wierzbowski is aware though and is defending well. Block has control of Wierzbowski's left arm, preventing Wierzbowski from doing any damage. Block throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Wierzbowski avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That's one minute gone in the round. Wierzbowski trying to control but Block is working from the bottom. Wierzbowski is really struggling to control Block but he's trying to hold on to the position. Block looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Block misses with a kick to the body and Wierzbowski counters with a shoot takedown. Block fights it but they end up in guard. Block is looking to stand back up but Wierzbowski counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Block. Wierzbowski is trying to control the action in half guard but Block is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Wierzbowski is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Block is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Wierzbowski trying to control from Block's half guard. Block has other ideas though and has regained full guard. Block keeping moving, preventing Wierzbowski from controlling successfully. Block has his foot on Wierzbowski's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Wierzbowski works his way back into a safe position though.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Block has an active guard here but Wierzbowski has managed to pass into half guard.

Block is not content to let Wierzbowski control the position. Block keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Block is pressing down on Wierzbowski's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Wierzbowski trying to control but Block is working from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Wierzbowski won't allow Block to sweep him here. Wierzbowski looking to pass the guard. Wierzbowski trying to control the position from guard on top but Block is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Block is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Wierzbowski has his hands clasped together but Block extends and breaks Wierzbowski's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Block.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Jimmy Block! A relieved looking Jimmy Block thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
