Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Azar Qasi (ranked 900 p4p, 129 weight class) and The Metaphysical Magician (ranked 4322 p4p, 492 weight class). Qasi comes to the cage accompanied by For Whom The Bell Tolls. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
24 - 11 - 1, fighting out of New York, Azar Qasi! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, The Metaphysical Magician! The judges for this bout are William Gold, Andrew Berry and Richard Clark.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A big right from Qasi misses. A head kick from Qasi lands but Magician takes it in his stride. Qasi lands an overhand right. Magician with a poor takedown and Qasi makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Qasi looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Qasi throws a hook but Magician blocks it. Magician tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Magician tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Qasi swivels and escapes. A shot to the liver by Qasi. Beautiful body shot. Qasi throws a jab but it's blocked by Magician. Magician feints the counter takedown. Magician darts in looking for a takedown but Qasi gets double underhooks and turns Magician into the cage. Azar Qasi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of The Metaphysical Magician. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Magician. Qasi rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Magician moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Qasi throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

That's one minute gone in the round. Magician throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Qasi's waist but Qasi gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Magician off to one side. Qasi scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Qasi dips to his left and cracks Magician with an uppercut! Qasi throws out a loose jab but Magician uses good head movement to avoid it. Qasi cracks Magician with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Qasi stuffs the takedown attempt from Magician. Magician gets slowly back to his feet. Qasi cracks a nice hook into Magician's ribs. Qasi scores with a punch to the head. Qasi jabs Magician right on the nose. Magician blinks but takes it well. Qasi keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Magician tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Qasi swivels and escapes. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Qasi is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Magician uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Qasi. Magician changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Nice uppercut there from Qasi. A slow jab from Qasi misses its intended target. Qasi missing with a left hand there. Magician was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Qasi pulls out of a head kick attempt.

A jab lands there for Qasi. Qasi lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Magician slips under a jab. Qasi swinging wildly here.
Magician tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Magician takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Magician throws a head kick that misses. Qasi takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. Qasi is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. No luck for Magician with that takedown attempt. Qasi throws a jab when Magician was well out of range. Magician changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Qasi scores with a hook. Magician ducks under a wild hook from Qasi. Magician tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Magician looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Magician decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Qasi manages to get to full guard.
Qasi is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
That's four minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Qasi controlling the action here. Qasi is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Magician defends it well. Magician is trying to control but can't.
Qasi is looking to advance position but Magician won't allow it. Qasi seems to be looking for submissions.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Qasi trying to control from half guard but Magician is working away. Magician wants to control but Qasi is keeping busy and won't allow it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Azar Qasi dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Magician moves out of range of the strikes. Magician closes the distance and clinches up with Qasi, looking for a takedown. Magician pushes Qasi against the cage but Qasi circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Magician has his takedown stuffed and Magician takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Qasi throws a jab when Magician was well out of range. Azar Qasi is winning the standup battle so far. Magician will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Azar Qasi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of The Metaphysical Magician. Magician takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Qasi misses with a double jab.
Magician looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Magician dives in and scores a takedown into Qasi's guard. Magician got a little sloppy there for a moment and Qasi has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Magician has managed to get both his arms back between Qasi's legs - danger averted. Qasi trying to control the position.
Qasi is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Magician can do to turn this around? Magician preventing the sweep.
That's one minute gone in the round. Qasi is working hard here to advance position. Magician tries to free his leg and advance position but Qasi is retaining full guard. Qasi seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission. Magician is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Let's hope that Magician has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Qasi is on top in guard.
Magician wants to control the position but Qasi says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard. Qasi is looking for a kimura but Magician is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Qasi to get the leverage. Magician is not content to let Qasi control the position.

Qasi takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Magician moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Magician has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Qasi can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Qasi controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Qasi advances to half guard. Magician is refusing to be controlled, as Qasi sits in half guard. Qasi seems to be looking for submissions.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Qasi stuffs the takedown. Qasi paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Qasi misses with an uppercut. Magician uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Qasi. Qasi scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Qasi connects with a jab. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Qasi throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Magician takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Qasi escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Qasi throws a lazy right hand but Magician sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Qasi scores with a jab. Qasi throws a one two combo.
Qasi connects with the punch. Magician has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye. Qasi scores with a jab to the head.
Qasi keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. A telegraphed right hand from Qasi misses the target. Qasi pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Magician dives in for a single leg takedown but Qasi sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Azar Qasi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of The Metaphysical Magician. Qasi throws a looping overhand right but Magician ducks down to avoid it. Qasi misses the shot to the body. A swing and a miss from Qasi. Azar Qasi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Qasi displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Magician. Qasi throws a combination. Magician tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Magician fails with the takedown letting Qasi counter with a right hand. Qasi is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Magician. Azar Qasi is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Qasi connects with a body shot that sends Magician's belly button to the back. Qasi lands a body shot.
Qasi scores with the left hand. Magician knows he should have avoided that one. Magician will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Magician doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Good standup being displayed there by Qasi as he connects with a hook. Magician takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Magician is rocked! Magician dives in and grabs Qasi's left leg, looking for a takedown. Qasi pushes down on Magician's head and hops out. Qasi swings widly with a right hand
so Magician counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Qasi looking for a guillotine here but Magician defends easily.
Qasi wants to sweep here but Magician controlling him for the moment. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Qasi is on top in guard.
Qasi tries to free his leg and advance position but Magician is retaining full guard. Magician looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Qasi has picked Magician up and slammed him! Magician can't keep hold of the triangle and Qasi manages to pass to side control! Magician struggling a bit here. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Qasi is trying to get an arm triangle but Magician is defending well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Magician looks to move to half guard but instead Qasi has passed into mount! Damn! Qasi has control of Magician's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Magician regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Magician is wriggling around trying to escape.
Magician is squirming around, avoiding Qasi's attempts to control the action. Qasi is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Magician is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Qasi controlling his opponent. Azar Qasi clearly takes that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Qasi is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
You can see the frustration on Magician's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Azar Qasi overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Qasi avoiding Magician 's attempts to control his hands. Good control from Qasi. Qasi tries to get the hooks in deep but Magician pushed the leg off. Magician wants to escape the position.
Qasi has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Magician has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

The fighters roll with the hold and Magician manages to kick Qasi off! Qasi jumps back into Magician's guard. Magician is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Magician throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Qasi escapes and throws Magician's legs to the side, diving into side control! Qasi is working to tighten his grip on Magician's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Magician has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Qasi is really squeezing tight and eventually Magician passes out! Qasi breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
