Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Yuki Shojo (ranked 1741 p4p, 186 weight class) and Watsz Mawe (ranked 1430 p4p, 155 weight class). Watsz Mawe told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
17 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Yuki Shojo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Watsz Mawe!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Shirou Masuda and Yasuomi Hirokawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shojo tries a head kick but it misses.
Shojo has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Blackscar Fitness in the buildup to the fight.
Mawe uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Shojo.
Mawe is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Shojo with a body shot.
Shojo swings for the body but Mawe moves out of range.
Shojo drives through and clinches with Mawe against the cage.
Shojo tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Mawe avoids it.

Mawe changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Shojo fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Yuki Shojo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mawe might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Shojo haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Mawe wants to control from the top but Shojo keeps moving.

That's time! Shojo's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Shojo moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

and Mawe counters with a three punch combo that has Shojo backing up. Shojo nods at Mawe to acknowledge the strikes.

Shojo looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
As Shojo backs off Mawe throws a huge counter combo but Shojo manages to avoid it all.

Shojo is looking to clinch but Mawe is avoiding it.
Shojo feints a jab promting Mawe to slip. Shojo then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Mawe slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Mawe stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Shojo swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Shojo working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mawe doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mawe manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

That was a close second round but I would say that Yuki Shojo will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!
The fight stays on the outside here - Mawe looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Mawe looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Shojo with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Mawe lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Shojo quite badly. Shojo pulls Mawe in close trying to recover. Mawe postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Shojo on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Shojo doesn't seem to be complaining too much.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Watsz Mawe!
Watsz Mawe looked relieved post fight as he said the following; 'Line em' up, I'll take them out. '.
