Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Stevie Hobbs (ranked 23432 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Montoya (ranked 6201 p4p, 0 weight class). Montoya has chosen Beast by Rob Bailey as his entrance music. Mark Montoya has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Stevie Hobbs's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Stevie Hobbs! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mark Montoya! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Dillan Fox and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Montoya misses with a takedown and Hobbs counters with a takedown into side control. Montoya throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done! Montoya goes for a double leg but Hobbs avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Hobbs continues to drive forward. Montoya tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Hobbs swivels and escapes. Stevie Hobbs has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mark Montoya. Montoya misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Montoya fails to land the takedown. Hobbs really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Montoya decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Hobbs has one foot on Montoya's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Hobbs moves into the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hobbs has hold of one of Montoya's legs. Montoya is fighting the takedown attempt but Hobbs gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Hobbs lands a couple of elbows. Hobbs is working Montoya over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Montoya working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Hobbs. Hobbs throwing strikes from guard but Montoya blocks nicely. Montoya looks winded! Montoya is trying to control the position but Hobbs postures up. Hobbs passes Montoya's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Nice strikes from Hobbs there. Hobbs missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Hobbs is keen to just control but Montoya is a slippery customer. Hobbs working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Montoya has hold of Hobbs's hands but Hobbs slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Hobbs seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nice strikes from Hobbs there. Hobbs sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Montoya defending well though. Hobbs working the head and body with strikes. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Hobbs lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Hobbs is nestled in close to Montoya, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Hobbs takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Hobbs lands with a punch from half guard. Hobbs looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Montoya with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Hobbs throwing shots but Montoya is blocking nicely. Hobbs scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Hobbs working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nice strikes from Hobbs there. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Hobbs drops an elbow to the side of Montoya's head. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Hobbs connects with a nice short shot to Montoya's temple. Hobbs is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Montoya is looking to improve his position.
Hobbs lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Hobbs is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Hobbs slips a nice elbow through Montoya's hands, connecting with Montoya's forehead. Hobbs takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Montoya on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Montoya keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Hobbs drops an elbow to the side of Montoya's head. Hobbs is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Hobbs scoring with strikes to the body and head. Hobbs winds up and cracks Montoya with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Hobbs missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Hobbs is nestled in close to Montoya, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Hobbs lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Montoya is striking from the bottom but he's now found himself mounted! Oh dear - not enough focus on defense there.

Hobbs will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Montoya sitting in guard here, content to control. Montoya preventing the sweep. Hobbs has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Montoya is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position. Hobbs jumps guard but Montoya turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hobbs jumps guard.
Montoya seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Montoya missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hobbs keeping moving, preventing Montoya from controlling successfully. Hobbs is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Montoya presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat. Montoya manages to break the clinch.
Hobbs staying out of range there. Hobbs is looking for a counter combo. Montoya rushes Hobbs and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Hobbs drags the fight down to the ground.

Hobbs looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Montoya puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Hobbs is looking to improve his position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hobbs is holding on to half guard well. Hobbs regains full guard. Nicely done. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hobbs lands with a heel strike from the guard.
Montoya wants to control from the top but Hobbs keeps moving.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Montoya pushes Hobbs up against the cage in a clinch. Hobbs pulls guard successfully.
Montoya really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hobbs. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Montoya postures up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hobbs throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

Hobbs postures up in Montoya's guard and throws a big left but Montoya blocks it. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Montoya is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Hobbs connects with a couple of short punches. Hobbs fails with a takedown attempt from distance. It seemed like Montoya was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Hobbs takes a shot right to the bread basket. Hobbs tries to sprawl but Montoya drives through with a takedown into half guard. Hobbs pushes Montoya off and gets back to his feet. Hobbs wants to clinch up but Montoya keeps it at a distance. Montoya moves into the clinch. Montoya tries for a takedown but Hobbs manages to get underhooks.
Montoya breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Hobbs tries for a takedown but Montoya sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Montoya takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Montoya closes the distance and pushes Hobbs back into the cage. Hobbs manages to pull guard.
Hobbs has his hands on Montoya's head, controlling the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hobbs tries to land a sweep but no joy. Hobbs keeping full guard, as Montoya tries to pass. Hobbs pushes Montoya off and gets back to his feet.
Hobbs tries to clinch up. Montoya throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Hobbs falls off balance throwing a combination
enabling Montoya to counter with a crisp jab.

Hobbs jumps guard and drags Montoya to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Hobbs wants to improve his position but instead Montoya has moved into half guard.
Montoya decides to stand and escape the position. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Montoya has managed to clinch.

Montoya makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! Montoya keeps the fight on the outside. Montoya closes the distance and pushes Hobbs back into the cage. Hobbs drags the fight down to the ground.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Hobbs controlling Montoya's posture. Stevie Hobbs overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Mark Montoya has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Stevie Hobbs is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Montoya throws an elbow that misses. Hobbs uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Montoya's guard. Nice move by Hobbs!
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Mark Montoya. I think Hobbs has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
