Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sydney Vang! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Edwin Gentry! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Wesley Smith and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vang takes the fight into the clinch. Gentry pulls guard effortlessly. Vang working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Gentry keeping moving, preventing Vang from controlling successfully. Gentry has momentary wrist control but Vang slips an elbow through the middle. Vang will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Gentry trying to control the position.
Vang postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Gentry will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Gentry looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Vang drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Vang jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Vang scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Vang working over Gentry with some ground and pound. Gentry looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Vang is thwarting Gentry's attempts to control the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gentry throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Vang is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Gentry wants to control but Vang is keeping busy.
Vang looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Gentry with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Vang lands a nice short elbow. Gentry trying to control but Vang postures up.
Vang trying to control from half guard but Gentry is working away. Vang really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Gentry regains full guard. Nicely done. Vang postures up.

Gentry is refusing to be controlled, as Vang sits in half guard. Vang seems to be working for a kimura but Gentry defends the submission attempt. Vang in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Gentry tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Vang!
