Coming up we have a lightweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Masa Wasa (ranked 2454 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sergey Keosayan (ranked 703 p4p, 0 weight class). Wasa's entrance music is Welcome To The Jungle. A fine choice. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the lightweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of New York, with a TWGC record of 4 wins and 6 losses; Masa Wasa! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Amsterdam, with a TWGC record of 7 wins and 3 losses; Sergey Keosayan! The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Matti Vanhoillinen and Marco Blurström.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Wasa gets a takedown into half guard. That's eleven minutes gone in the round. Keosayan lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Wasa (8) vs (2) Keosayan Keosayan stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Wasa swivels though and keeps the full guard. Keosayan wants to control from the top but Wasa keeps moving. My spies in Gym Beam inform me that Keosayan has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. That's fourteen minutes gone in the round. Wasa slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Keosayan drops back, looking for a kneebar! Wasa looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Wasa looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control!
