Coming up we have a lightweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Pelle Paniikki (ranked 4142 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kyro Costa (ranked 6517 p4p, 0 weight class). Paniikki comes into the arena with N'sync - Bye Bye Bye blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the lightweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Helsinki, with a TWGC record of 5 wins and 7 losses; Pelle Paniikki! And in the blue corner, fighting out of London, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 0 losses; Kyro Costa! The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Daniel Cesar and Alexandre Firmino.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Paniikki manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Costa on his heels. He'll look to pass Costa's guard now, I'm sure. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Paniikki (2) vs (0) Costa Paniikki wants to pass the guard but Costa is keeping the position. Paniikki is working hard here to advance position. Costa lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Paniikki (2) vs (2) Costa The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Costa drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Paniikki dives on top into guard. Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Paniikki (4) vs (2) Costa Paniikki is pushing down on Costa's leg trying to pass to half guard. Costa is fighting to maintain full guard but Paniikki has managed to sneak the leg through. Paniikki looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Costa is pressing down on Paniikki's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Costa is trying to control the position but Paniikki postures up. Paniikki thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Costa can't keep his opponent in guard - Paniikki advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Paniikki is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Costa defends it well. Paniikki seems to be working for a kimura but Costa defends the submission attempt. Paniikki is breathing heavily. Costa is defending against the submission attempts here by Paniikki.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Costa manages to get to full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Paniikki preventing the sweep. Paniikki is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Costa wants to sweep but no luck. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Costa is on top in guard.

Costa stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Paniikki swivels though and keeps the full guard. Paniikki working for a triangle but Costa defends it easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Costa slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Score +3 for passing guard: Paniikki (4) vs (7) Costa Costa moves into full mount! Score +2 for reaching mount: Paniikki (4) vs (9) Costa Costa forces the positional change into back control. Score +3 for taking back: Paniikki (4) vs (12) Costa Costa keeps control of the position as Paniikki tries to break free.
Costa patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here? Costa is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Paniikki defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Costa struggling to keep hold of the position.

Costa is looking for the choke from the back position but Paniikki is controlling his hands well. Costa is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Paniikki has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here. Costa is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Paniikki knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Paniikki for a finish. Costa has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Paniikki! Can he survive? No! He's out! Costa gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
