Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jean Labosky (ranked 16592 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arvo Penaali (ranked 3166 p4p, 0 weight class). Penaali has chosen Immortal Technique - Obnoxius as his entrance music. Arvo Penaali has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 18 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jean Labosky!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 34 - 21 - 2, fighting out of New York, Arvo Penaali!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Lou da Vinci and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Penaali gets the takedown into side control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Labosky is not content to let Penaali control the position.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Labosky wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Penaali wants to lay and pray for a moment but Labosky keeps working.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Penaali looks up at the clock and then as Labosky takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Penaali smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Penaali is looking to take a break and control but Labosky is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Penaali postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

You can see the frustration on Labosky's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Labosky tries to bench press Penaali off him but Penaali keeps the position.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Labosky wants to get back to striking at distance but Penaali won't allow it.
Our sources have told us that Labosky has been working on his knees in the buildup to the fight.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Penaali had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Labosky defends it easily.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Labosky throws a lazy right hand but Penaali sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

And an attempted straight right on the counter from Penaali! But no joy.
Penaali throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Labosky stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Penaali is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Labosky pulls him back up using the underhooks.

That's time! Labosky's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


A looping hook to the body misses from Penaali. Labosky does a little dance to reset his feet.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jean Labosky.
I think Penaali has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
