Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Dennis Wallace! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Tyler Hammond! The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Paul Tew and Steven Brown.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hammond scores with a takedown into Wallace's guard. The fighters are working up against the cage. Wallace manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage. Hammond is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Wallace is keeping busy. Wallace jumps into guard, dragging Hammond to the mat.
Wallace pulls Hammond in close to prevent any damage. Hammond controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Hammond throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Wallace can't keep his opponent in guard - Hammond advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Hammond slows the pace down in half guard. Hammond not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hammond is thwarting Wallace's attempts to control the position. Hammond controlling the action here. Hammond wants to pass the guard but Wallace is defending well. Wallace is looking to get back to full guard here but Hammond has managed to pass to side control instead. Wallace manages to get back to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Wallace trying to control but Hammond postures up.
Wallace regains full guard. Nicely done. Hammond must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Wallace keeping moving, preventing Hammond from controlling successfully. Hammond wants to get up but he can't break Wallace's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Hammond avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Hammond makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Hammond gets to his feet - Wallace follows without any prompting. Hammond changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Wallace looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Wallace is looking to regain half guard here but Hammond keeps moving and retains side control. Wallace is trying to control Hammond's posture but Hammond avoids it. Hammond is trying to move to mount but Wallace reverses beautifully and ends up in Hammond's guard. Wallace stands up from guard. Let's bang!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Wallace with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Hammond drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Wallace explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Hammond looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Wallace wants to sweep but no luck. Wallace controls Hammond momentarily but Hammond frees himself. Hammond controls from within his opponent's guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Wallace tries to sprawl but Hammond drives through with a takedown into half guard. Wallace pushes Hammond off and gets back to his feet. Wallace could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Wallace has closed the distance and engaged Hammond in a clinch.
Wallace is looking to control Hammond's arms but Hammond gets an underhook and turns him. Now Wallace has his back to the cage. Hammond turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Hammond manages to end up in side control. Wallace throws Hammond to one side and escapes! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Wallace clinches up against the cage. Wallace is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Hammond pulls him back up using the underhooks. Wallace has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Hammond regains guard immediately. Hammond controls Wallace momentarily but Wallace frees himself.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hammond looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Wallace has picked Hammond up and slammed him! Hammond can't keep hold of the triangle and Wallace manages to pass to side control! Hammond dodges the ground and pound from Wallace. Hammond bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet! Hammond darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Wallace makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! Dennis Wallace is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Hammond is breathing heavily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hammond feints and as Wallace raises his hands in defense, Hammond changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Wallace pushes Hammond off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Wallace is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Hammond can do to turn this around? Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Hammond feints and as Wallace raises his hands in defense, Hammond changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Wallace looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Hammond stops Wallace from standing up. Wallace is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Wallace keeping moving, preventing Hammond from controlling successfully.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wallace has control of Hammond's left arm, preventing Hammond from doing any damage. Wallace keeping moving, preventing Hammond from controlling successfully. Wallace trying to keep a closed guard but Hammond is proving a slippery customer.
Hammond gets to his feet. Wallace looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Hammond throws a left and a right that both miss
and Wallace counters with a nice body kick.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Hammond is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Wallace's half guard. Wallace wants to control but Hammond is keeping busy and won't allow it. Wallace wants to improve his position but Hammond is controlling well.
Wallace is pressing down on Hammond's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Dennis Wallace overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Hammond is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Wallace working a defensive guard here.

Hammond shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Wallace napping and manages to drive through into side control! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Wallace sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Hammond tries to stand and escape but Wallace is controlling the position. Hammond is thwarting Wallace's attempts to control the position. Hammond trying to control from half guard but Wallace is working away. Wallace regains full guard. Nicely done. Hammond takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Hammond postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wallace had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Hammond defends it easily. Wallace trying to control the position.
Hammond lands a couple of elbows. Hammond is pushing down on Wallace's leg trying to pass to half guard. Wallace is fighting to maintain full guard but Hammond has managed to sneak the leg through. Wallace is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Hammond's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Hammond's back! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Wallace throwing strikes from the back - he gets a warning from the referee for striking the back of the head but all these shots are hurting Hammond!

That's two minutes gone in the round. You can see the frustration on Hammond's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Wallace slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

Wallace controlling the position well here. Hammond rolled but Wallace kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Hammond is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet. Wallace lands an elbow to the side of the head. Wallace controlling well, preventing Hammond from escaping the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hammond looking very determined here, making life difficult for Wallace.
Wallace is landing with strikes. Hammond can't take much more of this. Oooh a big shot gets through from Wallace. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!
Wallace controls the action. Wallace missing with strikes from the back. Wallace lands with a big left hand that may well have hurt his opponent. Can Hammond hold on?!

That's four minutes gone in the round. What can Hammond do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
Wallace not allowing Hammond to control his hands. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Hammond is trying to shake Wallace off. He's managed it and has hopped back to his feet! Wallace won't be happy about giving up the dominant position.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Dennis Wallace. Well Wallace has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win...
