Coming up we have a lightweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between David Morrison (ranked 2283 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hanzo Hasashi (ranked 1096 p4p, 0 weight class). Morrison's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Diary of a Madman. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the lightweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of New York, with a TWGC record of 11 wins and 5 losses; David Morrison! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Hilo, with a TWGC record of 3 wins and 1 losses; Hanzo Hasashi! The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Radbod Blank and Wagner Zegers.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Morrison closes the distance and clinches up with Hasashi, looking for a takedown. Morrison pushes Hasashi against the cage but Hasashi circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Morrison goes for a double leg but Hasashi avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Hasashi continues to drive forward. Hasashi forces Morrison back against the cage and clinches. Hasashi turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! Score +4 for clean takedown past guard: Morrison (0) vs (4) Hasashi Hasashi tries to move into full mount but can't pass Morrison's legs. Morrison manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Hasashi sitting and controlling from the half guard. Hasashi wants to free his trapped foot but Morrison is holding on for dear life with his legs. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Morrison moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Hasashi being controlled here momentarily.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Morrison had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Hasashi defends it easily. Hasashi wants to pass the guard but Morrison is keeping the position. Morrison wants to improve his position but instead Hasashi has moved into half guard.
Morrison tries to roll over but Hasashi keeps him under control. Morrison is concentrating on defense, preventing Hasashi from advancing position.

Morrison wants to hold on but Hasashi pushes him away. Morrison is wriggling around trying to escape.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hasashi controlling the pace for now. Morrison is trying to escape the mount.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Morrison is working hard here to advance position. Hasashi controlling the position easily from mount. Morrison tries to reverse the position but Hasashi maintains control. Morrison has given up his back.

That's six minutes gone in the round. Morrison wants to control his opponent's hands but Hasashi gets his hands free. Hasashi keeps control of the position easily here as Morrison tries to buck him off.
Our spies down at at Cantina inform us that Hasashi has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off? Let's hope that Hasashi has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Morrison is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
Morrison trying to control the hands but Hasashi won't let him. We've been hearing good reports from Morrison's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Morrison staying busy and making it hard for Hasashi to control. You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! Morrison tries to get back to half guard but can't. Hasashi trying to control but he's not successful this time. Morrison pushes down on Hasashi's leg and manages to get into half guard. Morrison tries to pass the half guard into mount. Hasashi knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
That's ten minutes gone in the round. Hasashi wants to get back to full guard. Hasashi is not content to let Morrison control the position. Morrison with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Morrison wants to pass to mount but Hasashi is defending the position. Morrison uses his free foot to push down on Hasashi's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Hasashi. That's eleven minutes gone in the round. Morrison prevents Hasashi from getting the reversal. Morrison has hold of Hasashi's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Hasashi manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Hasashi wants to hold on but Morrison pushes him away. Hasashi is in all sorts of trouble here.
That's twelve minutes gone in the round. Morrison fails to advance to Hasashi's back. Hasashi is desperately trying to improve his position but Morrison has a good base and remains in mount. Hasashi has given up his back. Will we see Morrison going for some submissions?

He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Morrison off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted. Hasashi is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Morrison.

Hasashi looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment. What can Hasashi do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
And that's the end of the fight! Hasashi wins on points by 13 to 8. Hanzo Hasashi made sure to give a little speech post fight, saying 'That's what should have happened in the first fight; I should have won the belt; but now i'm gonna go into isolation'. |
