Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between George Whissell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pantero Athrox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Whissell comes to the cage accompanied by Rose Of Sharon. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Whissell scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Whissell seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Athrox slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Athrox is trying to hold Whissell in close to prevent damage but Whissell has managed to pass into half guard.

George Whissell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Athrox misses with a takedown attempt
and Whissell counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Athrox tries to break the clinch but Whissell is controlling the position.

Athrox is trying to drag Whissell to the mat but Whissell just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Whissell escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Athrox is staying active underneath Whissell, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Athrox is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Whissell pulls his head out easily.

Athrox has left one of his arms exposed and Whissell doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Athrox screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
