Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Manu Ahonen (ranked 319 p4p, 46 weight class) and Quinoa Smiff (ranked 1055 p4p, 155 weight class). Ahonen comes to the cage accompanied by For Heavy Metal we will die!. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Manu Ahonen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Quinoa Smiff! The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Tarja Halkonen and Matti Vanhoillinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ahonen looks to throw the jab but Smiff is out of range. Smiff uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Ahonen.
Ahonen gets caught napping as Smiff dives in and scores a takedown. Ahonen manages to retain guard. Smiff is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Smiff wants to control from the top but Ahonen keeps moving. Ahonen is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Smiff is aware though and is defending well. Ahonen tries to land a sweep but no joy. Smiff throws a strike but Ahonen rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Smiff is looking to sweep but instead, Ahonen has passed into half guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Ahonen connects with a nice short shot to Smiff's temple.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smiff works his way to full guard. Good work. Smiff wants to sweep but no luck. Smiff looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Ahonen throws a strike but Smiff rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Smiff is looking to work some ground and pound but Ahonen has wrist control. Smiff won't allow Ahonen to sweep him here. Smiff looking to pass the guard. Smiff lands a couple of decent looking shots. Smiff trying to control but Ahonen is working from the bottom. Smiff slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Smiff is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Ahonen will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. Smiff trying to control the position but Ahonen is working away. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Smiff tries to score with some ground and pound. Ahonen controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Ahonen is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Ahonen defending against the ground and pound.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Smiff misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Smiff working the ground and pound but Ahonen is defending the strikes. Ahonen takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Ahonen is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Ahonen is not content to let Smiff control the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ahonen tries to bench press Smiff off him but Smiff keeps the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Smiff tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Smiff lands some shots froms side control. You can see the frustration on Ahonen's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Smiff working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Ahonen is trying to get back to half guard. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Quinoa Smiff dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Smiff is looking to clinch but Ahonen is avoiding it.
Ahonen lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Smiff will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Smiff uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Ahonen. Ahonen misses with a left hand and Smiff counters with a nice double leg into side control. Ahonen won't be happy with that. Ahonen is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Ahonen gets back to full guard.
Ahonen can't keep his opponent in guard - Smiff advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Smiff trying to control the action but Ahonen is working from the bottom. Ahonen is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Heavy Metal, so we'll see if he gets out of it. Smiff content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ahonen wants to get back to full guard but Smiff has passed into side control. Smiff has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Ahonen is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Smiff's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Smiff is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Ahonen slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Smiff slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Smiff wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ahonen keeps working. Ahonen is trying to get back to half guard. Smiff postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Ahonen is trying to improve his position. Smiff lands a nice forearm strike. Ahonen manages to get back to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Smiff missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Ahonen is refusing to be controlled, as Smiff sits in half guard. Ahonen wants to improve his position but Smiff is controlling well.
Ahonen gets full guard. Smiff wants to control from the top but Ahonen keeps moving. Smiff tries to free his leg and advance position but Ahonen is retaining full guard. Ahonen is adopting a defensive guard. Ahonen looking to sweep here. No luck so far. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Ahonen looking for a guillotine here but Smiff defends easily.
Smiff is looking to pass into half guard but Ahonen pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Ahonen is in guard.

Smiff has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Smiff lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Quinoa Smiff showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Ahonen's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
A punch lands to the side of Smiff 's head but he takes it in his stride. Smiff on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Ahonen lands with a thumping leg kick.

Smiff tries to free his leg and advance position but Ahonen is retaining full guard. Smiff content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Smiff postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Smiff advances position into side control! Ahonen dodges the ground and pound from Smiff.

Ahonen is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Smiff lets go of the hold and Ahonen can pop his arm back in it's socket.
