PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Al Ferguson (ranked 6218 p4p, 0 weight class) and Choke Slam (ranked 7253 p4p, 0 weight class). Slam is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by MGK ft. Kid Rock - Bad Motherfucker. On his way into the cage it seems that Al Ferguson has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Al Ferguson seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Choke Slam!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Steven Brown and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ferguson moves into the clinch.
Slam tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Ferguson using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Slam has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Ferguson manages to pull guard.
Slam advances to half guard.
Slam is trying to control the action in half guard but Ferguson is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Slam seems to be working for a kimura but Ferguson defends the submission attempt.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Slam is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Ferguson tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Slam just stands there and leans against the cage.

Ferguson is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Slam is defending well for now.

Ferguson jumps guard and drags Slam to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Slam stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ferguson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Ferguson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Slam doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Slam manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Slam closes the distance and clinches up with Ferguson, looking for a takedown. Slam pushes Ferguson against the cage but Ferguson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Al Ferguson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Choke Slam.
Slam looks winded!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Ferguson clinches up with Slam and pushes him back against the cage.

Slam decides to pull guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



The fight moves into the clinch position.
A frustrated look appears on Ferguson's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Slam moves into the clinch.
Ferguson tries to pull guard but Slam holds him up against the cage and eventually Ferguson drops back down to his feet.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Ferguson obliges.

Slam jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Ferguson walks away with a smile on his face. Slam gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Slam is breathing heavily.

Ferguson is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Slam is defending well for now.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ferguson wants to get back to his feet.
Choke Slam has got the better of the ground game so far.

Slam is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Ferguson is looking to improve his position.
Ferguson wants to control but Slam is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Ferguson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Slam closes the distance and clinches.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Ferguson is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Slam can do to turn this around?
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Ferguson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Slam gets in close and instigates a clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Al Ferguson will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

and Slam counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.


It looks like Al Ferguson has been cut.

The referee is keeping an eye on Ferguson - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Slam ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Slam no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Ferguson is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Slam escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Ferguson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Slam takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Ferguson postures up.
Ferguson wants to control from the top but Slam keeps moving.

Ferguson throws a sloppy strike and Slam has hooked up an armbar on the loose arm! He's turned and extended fully! Ferguson is forced to tap! Great BJJ from Slam!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:47 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Choke Slam!
A very excited looking Choke Slam made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
