The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, William Peck and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Montoya throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Sanchez counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Montoya thinking.
Montoya looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Mark Montoya seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Montoya misses with a combination
and Sanchez counters with a two punch combo.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Sanchez.
Montoya tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Montoya must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Sanchez has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Horrible takedown attempt by Sanchez or perhaps it was just good defense by Montoya, which made it look bad.
Montoya lets his hands go wild with a nice combination. Left! Right! Uppercut! Spinning backfist! Sanchez goes down and covers up as Montoya starts wailing on him! The ref watches the action closely before stepping in and putting a stop to the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mark Montoya!
A less than humble Mark Montoya misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
