The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rhodes slips a jab from Berthelsen.
Rhodes shoots for a double leg takedown but Berthelsen sprawls well. He's pushed Rhodes's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Rhodes closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Berthelsen manages to break the clinch.
Berthelsen scores with a jab to the head.
Berthelsen lunges at Rhodes with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Rhodes's hand.
Berthelsen lands a slapping body shot.
Berthelsen tests Rhodes's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Berthelsen checks a low kick from Rhodes.
Rhodes has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Rhodes there as he acknowledges the shot.
Berthelsen scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Rhodes scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Berthelsen makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

Good standup being displayed there by Berthelsen as he connects with a hook.
Berthelsen lands a right hook to the body.
Nice takedown defense from Berthelsen. No joy for Rhodes on that attempt.
Rhodes tries to clinch there but Berthelsen circles away.
Berthelsen lands a jab.
Berthelsen cracks Rhodes with an open hand slap.

Rhodes misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Berthelsen cracks a nice hook into Rhodes's ribs.
Rhodes walks into a straight right hand from Berthelsen.
Berthelsen lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Berthelsen.
Berthelsen sizes up Rhodes with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Svend Berthelsen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Berthelsen shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Rhodes eats them both and turns towards Berthelsen to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Rhodes tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Berthelsen defends well and Rhodes ends up having to push Berthelsen into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dusty Rhodes. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Berthelsen avoids the head kick by Rhodes.
Rhodes is breathing heavily.
Berthelsen feints a jab promting Rhodes to slip. Berthelsen then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Rhodes slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Berthelsen catches Rhodes with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Rhodes looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Berthelsen is fending him off so far but Rhodes persists. Nope, Berthelsen circles away and we're back to standing.
Berthelsen scores with a sloppy right hand. Rhodes should have avoided that one.
Berthelsen lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Berthelsen lands a right hook to the body.
Rhodes misses with a body shot.
Berthelsen is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Rhodes had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.

Berthelsen dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Svend Berthelsen is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Rhodes takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
The fight stays on the outside here - Rhodes looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Berthelsen looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Rhodes manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Berthelsen stands up from Rhodes's guard - Berthelsen perhaps looking for a knockout.
Berthelsen lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Rhodes is rocked!
Berthelsen thuds his right hand into Rhodes's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Oh Rhodes is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Berthelsen drops Rhodes with a big left hand! Rhodes is injured, injured bad! Berthelsen jumps in and finished him with strikes! The fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Svend Berthelsen!
A very excited looking Svend Berthelsen rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
