Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Luciano Oleguer! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ricardinho Vieira! The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Edson Gomes and Leandro Rodrigues.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Oleguer gets in close and instigates a clinch. Oleguer has Vieira pressed against the cage, preventing Vieira from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Vieira working hard to break the clinch. Vieira tries to pull guard but Oleguer won't allow it.
Oleguer definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Oleguer manages to break the clinch.

Nice uppercut lands for Oleguer. That snapped Vieira's head back.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Vieira has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Oleguer throws a leg kick which misses Vieira's front leg but catches the back leg as Vieira tries to avoid it. Oleguer fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Oleguer paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Vieira looks to land a right hand but Oleguer moved out of range. Vieira sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs. Oleguer closes the distance and pushes Vieira back into the cage. Oleguer scores with a nice hook to the head. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Oleguer looking to slow down the pace here. Vieira is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. Oleguer escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Oleguer dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Vieira. That did some damage! A looping hook to the body misses from Vieira. Oleguer does a little dance to reset his feet. Oleguer closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Oleguer landing knees to the head.
Vieira is trying to pull guard but Oleguer has him pressed against the cage. Vieira has Oleguer pressed against the cage, preventing Oleguer from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Oleguer scores with a shoulder strike. Vieira tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Oleguer just stands there and leans against the cage. Luciano Oleguer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ricardinho Vieira. Oleguer lands a left hand.
Oleguer is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Oleguer breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Oleguer really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Vieira manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Oleguer on his heels. He'll look to pass Oleguer's guard now, I'm sure.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Vieira passes into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Vieira seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Oleguer does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Vieira performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Vieira works his way into side control. Vieira has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Oleguer is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Vieira yanks on the arm and Oleguer is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Vieira.
