Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Richey Edwards (ranked 6377 p4p, 470 weight class) and Tim Slater (ranked 6626 p4p, 479 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Richey Edwards! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tim Slater! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Slater throws a lazy right hand but Edwards sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Edwards throws a quick counter head kick but Slater was just out of range. Edwards tries to clinch but Slater moves out of range. Slater changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Edwards tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Slater paws at him with a jab and circles away. Edwards scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Slater is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Slater desperately trying to maintain half guard. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Slater can do anything to dispel that myth. Slater is looking to improve his position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Slater looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Slater tries to get to full guard but Edwards has control of the leg.
That's one minute gone in the round. Slater manages to get to full guard.
Slater wants to sweep here but Edwards controlling him for the moment. Slater lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Edwards controls Slater momentarily but Slater frees himself. Slater is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Edwards knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Slater on the ground. Slater is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Edwards tries to land a sweep but no joy. Slater controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Slater drops back looking for a leg! Edwards is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Edwards manages to kick Slater off! Slater jumps back into Edwards's guard. Slater advances to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Edwards is looking for a sweep. Slater is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Slater is looking for a kimura here.
Slater content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Slater works his way into full mount! Slater tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Slater quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Slater but it's paid off an Edwards is forced to tap! Nice work by Slater.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Tim Slater! After winning the bout, Tim Slater thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
