Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Steve Steward (ranked 5478 p4p, 583 weight class) and Jay Jones (ranked 7063 p4p, 644 weight class). Steward's entrance music is CFO% - Worlds Apart. A fine choice. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Steve Steward! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jay Jones! The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, John Kavanagh and Bruno Lombardi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Steward throws a body shot but no joy. Steward blocks a jab. Jones dives in and grabs Steward's left leg, looking for a takedown. Steward pushes down on Jones's head and hops out. Steve Steward seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. No luck with that takedown attempt from Jones. Steward throws a big shot that misses. Jones changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Steward closes the distance and pushes Jones back into the cage. Steward stops a takedown attempt from Jones.
Steve Steward has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jay Jones. Steward is defending well against a takedown attempt. Steward tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jones is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Steward is keeping busy. Steward landing some nice looking knees to the body.
Jones jumps guard but Steward stands there with Jones around his waist. Jones gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
The referee is keeping an eye on Steward - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
That's one minute gone in the round. An uppercut to the body lands inside from Steward. Steward lands on the inside with an uppercut. Steward scores with a knee to the head.
It looks like Jay Jones has been cut. Jones tries to pull guard but Steward holds him up against the cage and eventually Jones drops back down to his feet.
Jones looks winded! Jones is trying to pull guard but Steward turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Jones tries to break the clinch but Steward is controlling the position. The referee is keeping an eye on Steward - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Jones wants a takedown.
Steward has Jones pressed against the cage, preventing Jones from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Steward pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Steward lands the left hand. Jones wants to clinch. Jones changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Steward tries to avoid it but Jones manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Steward to the ground. Steward escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. An attempted straight right counter from Steward misses the target. Steward throws a wild combination but nothing lands. As Steward backs off Jones throws a huge counter combo but Steward manages to avoid it all. Steward closes the distance and clinches. Steward avoiding damage.
Jones has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Steward avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Steward slowing the pace effectively. Steward connects with a knee to the head.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Steward with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head. Steward breaks from the clinch.
Steve Steward is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Steward misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Jones.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Steward misses the jab. Steward forces Jones back against the cage and clinches. Steward lands a good knee to the midsection. Jones won't want to take too many of those. Steward lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Steward working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely. With the fighters clinched against the cage, Steward creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. Steward lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. Jones is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. A nice left hand lands by Steward.
Steward lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. Steward blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Steward drops Jones with a big knee straight up the middle! Jones is covering up against the cage but manages to escape and gets back to his feet!
Jones is rocked!
That has opened up Jay Jones's cut even more. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Steward circles and sees the opportunity to plant his feet and throw a really nice straight left hand that drops Jones to the canvas! Jones doesn't know where he is but he's trying to survive - Steward keeps piling on the pressure and forces the referee to step in! This one is aaaaaall over!
