Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tsutomu Miyazaki (ranked 4381 p4p, 486 weight class) and Trevor Burrows (ranked 3602 p4p, 438 weight class). Burrows comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Calm - No problem kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tsutomu Miyazaki! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Trevor Burrows! The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Chad Campbell and Alyssa Summers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Burrows instigates a clinch. Burrows's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Miyazaki misses with a straight right. Burrows closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. We've been informed that Burrows has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. Burrows prevents Miyazaki from breaking the clinch. Miyazaki breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Miyazaki throws a big shot that misses. Miyazaki fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Burrows manages to avoid it. Burrows throws out a loose jab but Miyazaki uses good head movement to avoid it. Miyazaki throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Burrows sees it coming and avoids it easily. Burrows is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Miyazaki scores with a nice right hand.
Burrows displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Miyazaki throws out the jab. A telegraphed right hand from Miyazaki misses the target. Miyazaki swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Burrows misses with an uppercut. A telegraphed right hand from Miyazaki misses the target. Burrows keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Miyazaki. Miyazaki connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Burrows swings for the body but Miyazaki moves out of range.
We've been told by Miyazaki's head coaches at Got Your 6 that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Burrows uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Miyazaki. Miyazaki throws a hook but Burrows blocks it. A big right from Miyazaki misses. Burrows steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Miyazaki. The fighters circling - Miyazaki throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
That's one minute gone in the round. Burrows looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Miyazaki! Burrows tries to move into full mount but can't pass Miyazaki's legs. Burrows misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Burrows is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Miyazaki is trying to escape and Burrows transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Miyazaki is forced to tap! Nice work there by Burrows! Very nice indeed!
