Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Jeff Diaz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Killian Dain! The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Paul Gruel and Josh West.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A momentary lapse in concentration from Dain enables Diaz to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Dain manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Diaz sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Dain's guard. Diaz perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Diaz is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Dain defends it well. Dain is looking to control Diaz's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Dain avoid being mounted? Diaz scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Diaz is working for a kimura but Dain is defending it quite comfortably.
Diaz is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Dain is just riding it out for now. Diaz eventually gives up the hold. Dain on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Diaz is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Diaz is looking for a kimura but Dain is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Diaz to get the leverage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Diaz working Dain over with strikes. Diaz seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Dain does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Diaz seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Diaz is looking to take a break and control but Dain is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Dain flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Diaz is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Diaz trying to control the pace. Dain wants to get back to full guard. Dain really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Diaz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
