Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gomaz scores with a head kick.


It looks like Dan Dam has been cut.

Dam decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Gomaz tries to kick Dam off but Dam keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Dam is working for a kimura but Gomaz is defending it quite comfortably.

Dam is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Dam prevents Gomaz from standing back up.
Dam trying to pass the guard but Gomaz defending well.
Dam prevents Gomaz from standing back up.

Dam is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Dam is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gomaz wants to get back to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Dam tries to pass the half guard into mount. Gomaz knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Dam stops Gomaz from getting back to his feet.
Dam throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Gomaz has hold of Dam's hands but Dam slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Gomaz wants to get back to his feet.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Gomaz throws a head kick that misses.
Gomaz throws a head kick but Dam moves out of range.
Gomaz looks gassed!
Dam throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Gomaz's waist but Gomaz gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Dam off to one side.

Dam darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Gomaz really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Dam. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Dam throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Dam has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Dam is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Gomaz defends it well.
Gomaz looks like he's trying to stand up.
Gomaz is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Gomaz pushes Dam off and gets back to his feet.
Gomaz lands a high kick!
Dam fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Gomaz throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Gomaz swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Dam feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Dam trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Gomaz wants to stand up but Dam is controlling him.
Dam postures up in Gomaz's guard and throws a big left but Gomaz blocks it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Dam prevents Gomaz from getting back to his feet.
Dam sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Gomaz's guard.

Dam has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Gomaz defend it? Dam steps over the head and cranks it - Gomaz is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Dam!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:14 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Dan Dam!
