Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Randy Curran (ranked 196 p4p, 20 weight class) and Pena Pulkkinen (ranked 228 p4p, 25 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Randy Curran!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Pena Pulkkinen!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Chris Edwards and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pulkkinen darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Nice shot by Pulkkinen.
Curran throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Curran tries to clinch up.
Curran misses with a hook
and Pulkkinen counters with a leg kick.
Curran takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Pulkkinen connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Pulkkinen takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Pulkkinen is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Curran tries to land a body kick
and Pulkkinen counters with a slapping leg kick.
Curran tries a low kick but Pulkkinen avoids it.
Curran has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Hey Steves Fight Shack in the buildup to the fight.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Curran dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Pulkkinen. That did some damage!
Curran just misses with a punch to the body.
Pulkkinen throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Curran.


It looks like Randy Curran has been cut.
Curran throws a sloppy head kick and Pulkkinen moves out of range easily.
Curran takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Curran on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Pulkkinen. Pulkkinen obviously looking to wear him down.
Pulkkinen throws a nice outside leg kick.

Curran swings away with a body shot that misses
and Pulkkinen counters with a nice uppercut.
Curran looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Curran throws a jab but it's blocked by Pulkkinen.
Pulkkinen replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Curran blocks it well.
An inside leg kick lands from Curran.
Pulkkinen darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Pulkkinen throws a leg kick that misses.
Curran lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Curran scores with a kick to the body.
Curran checks a low kick from Pulkkinen.
Curran has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Pulkkinen.
Pulkkinen is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Curran misses with a jab to the body
and Pulkkinen counters with a stiff right hand.
Pulkkinen has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Pulkkinen digs a good hook to Curran's body.
A nice leg kick lands there from Pulkkinen.

Pulkkinen uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Curran.
Pulkkinen ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Pulkkinen bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Curran's head backwards.
Curran cracks a nice hook into Pulkkinen's ribs.

A big right from Curran misses.
Curran is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
Pulkkinen connects with a solid leg kick.
Curran has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Pulkkinen.
Curran sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Nice uppercut there from Pulkkinen.
Randy Curran seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pulkkinen lands a nice shot that snaps Curran's head back.
Curran slips a jab from Pulkkinen.
Curran takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Curran fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Pulkkinen manages to avoid it.
Pulkkinen feints and then cracks Curran's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Curran down.
Pulkkinen takes one to the side of the head.
Curran throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Pulkkinen counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Curran ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Pulkkinen is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Pulkkinen throws a nice head kick!
Curran swings for the body but Pulkkinen moves out of range.
Pulkkinen appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Curran fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Pulkkinen manages to avoid it.
Pulkkinen lands a head shot.
Pulkkinen darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Curran uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Pulkkinen.
Pulkkinen throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Curran looks to land a body kick but Pulkkinen moved away.
Pulkkinen scores with a spinning back kick!
Pulkkinen misses with a low kick.
A telegraphed right hand from Curran misses the target.
A little jabbing left from Pulkkinen on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Curran takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Pulkkinen scores with a decent looking hook.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Pulkkinen lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Curran has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Curran and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Pulkkinen scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.


Curran is rocked!
Curran is looking to wear down Pulkkinen with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
A slapping body kick lands there for Curran.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Crunch! Curran slams his shin into Pulkkinen's torso.
Curran tries to close the distance and clinch but Pulkkinen swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Pulkkinen scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Oh Curran is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Curran switches off momentarily and Pulkkinen cracks him with a monster right hand! Curran topples backwards and makes a semi conscious attempt to cover up, as Pulkkinen dives in to land one more shot, before the referee has time to call the fight. What a finish by Pulkkinen!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:09 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Pena Pulkkinen!
Pena Pulkkinen was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
