Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Chad Campbell and Joseph Jones.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Liston misses the shot to the body.
Liston looks to score with a jab to the body but Talib is just out of range.
Liston shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Talib is trying to defend but Liston finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Liston keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Liston is nestled in close to Talib, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Liston connects with a nice short shot to Talib's temple.
Talib has hold of Liston's hands but Liston slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Liston working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Talib pushes Liston off and gets back to his feet.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Liston looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Talib is fending him off so far but Liston persists. Nope, Talib circles away and we're back to standing.
Liston looks to land a left hand but Talib moved out of range nicely.
Talib shoots in for a takedown but Liston shows good takedown defense.

Talib checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Talib shoots in and drives through. Liston sprawls well.
Liston changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Liston throws a chopping leg kick but Talib manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Talib shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Liston as he jumps to the side.
Sonny Liston has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ahmad Talib.
Talib shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Liston pinned against the cage. Liston gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Liston throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Talib avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Liston tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Talib was well out of range. Poor timing from Liston.
Talib shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Liston as he jumps to the side.

Liston throws a low kick but Talib moves out of range easily.
Liston looks to throw the jab but Talib is out of range.
Liston finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
A slow jab from Liston misses its intended target.
A low kick from Liston is predictable there
and Talib counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Talib.
Talib stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Liston swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Liston seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Liston looking for a sweep. Not yet Liston, not yet.
Liston on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Liston tries to get out of the position.

Liston is working hard here to advance position.
Liston will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Talib wanted to stand there but Liston had control of the position.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
A momentary lapse in concentration from Talib enables Liston to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Talib manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Liston lands a couple of elbows.
Talib looking to control but Liston passes into half guard.

Liston lands strikes from half guard.
Liston takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Talib looks winded!
Liston lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Liston is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Liston looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Talib with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Talib on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Liston winds up and cracks Talib with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Talib is rocked!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Liston scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Talib tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Liston wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Liston is looking to take a break and control but Talib is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Liston lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Talib down.
Talib is still in real trouble! Can Liston finish him?
Liston lands a big left to the face of Talib, bouncing his head like a basketball. Another shot from Liston and another - Talib is out! Liston stands up and salutes his fans, who are going crazy in the stands.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:47 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Sonny Liston!
