PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Gordon Cummins (ranked 2937 p4p, 345 weight class) and Sava Miroslav (ranked 3545 p4p, 397 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Gordon Cummins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Sava Miroslav!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Daniel Franklin and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cummins gets a takedown into half guard.

Cummins drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Miroslav manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Cummins has Miroslav in his guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Miroslav's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Cummins has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Miroslav can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Cummins is working an open guard so Miroslav takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Cummins fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Miroslav, pushing him back against the cage.

Miroslav throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Miroslav is looking to stand back up but Cummins counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Miroslav.

Cummins seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Miroslav does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Miroslav has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Cummins is working away from the top position though.
Cummins looks to land a strike but Miroslav avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Miroslav is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Cummins wants to pass the guard but Miroslav is defending well.
Cummins takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Cummins is nestled in close to Miroslav, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Cummins thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Miroslav's head.
Cummins looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Miroslav tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Cummins changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Miroslav looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Miroslav tries to kick Cummins off in order to stand up. Cummins Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
You can see the frustration on Miroslav's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Cummins wants to lay and pray for a moment but Miroslav keeps working.

Miroslav is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Cummins's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Cummins's back!

A close second round but Sava Miroslav will probably get the nod - 10:9.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Cummins holds on and takes a little breather.
