Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
19 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Carter Martin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
15 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Alexander Potter! The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, John Roberts and John Kavanagh.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Martin misses with a jab to the body
and Potter counters with a three punch combo that has Martin backing up. Martin nods at Potter to acknowledge the strikes. Potter's corner calls for a 1-2. Potter obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Potter closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Potter is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Martin is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Potter moves into full mount! Martin is trying to escape the mount.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Martin keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Martin is in a horrible position here. Potter smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Martin taking shots to the head. Potter has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Potter scores with a couple of good head shots there.
My spies in Private Training Center inform me that Potter has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Potter tries to control but Martin wriggling away. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Potter wants to control the action but instead Martin gets a body lock and reverses into Potter's guard! Nice work! Potter is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Potter has momentary wrist control but Martin slips an elbow through the middle.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Potter is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Potter seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Potter passes the guard and advances to mount! Potter tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Potter trying to control but Martin is having none of it. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Potter raining down hammerfists from mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Potter sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Potter lands a big elbow. Potter has hold of Martin's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Martin manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Potter tries to control but Martin wriggling away. Poor strikes thrown by Potter there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Martin is looking to get to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Potter tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Martin is looking to improve his position but Potter isn't that keen on the idea. Potter trying to control but he's not successful this time. Martin tries to lock up and control but Potter gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Potter is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Martin has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Martin! Potter looking for a sweep. Not yet Potter, not yet. Martin missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Alexander Potter dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
Martin throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Potter counters with a nice double leg into side control. Martin won't be happy with that. Martin sneaks out the side door and pushes Potter away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape. Martin throws an overhand right that lands on Potter's shoulder, as Potter tries to avoid the shot. Martin misses with a looping right. Martin throws a hook but Potter avoids it easily. Martin throws the left hand but Potter avoids the punch easily. Martin sets himself, and Potter steps forward looking for the clinch! Martin avoids it this time. Potter throws a nice inside leg kick. Martin walks into a stiff left hand from Potter. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Potter scores with a decent looking hook. Martin steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Potter. Martin's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Martin duly obliges. Potter has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Martin takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Martin rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Potter moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Potter swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Martin misses with a jab, cross combination.
Martin looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Martin dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Martin connects with a jab. Alexander Potter seems to be getting the better of the standup. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Potter shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Martin is trying to defend but Potter finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Potter trying to control the pace. Potter is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Martin still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Martin has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work! Potter tries to get back to half guard but can't. Martin connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Potter some visible discomfort.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Potter is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Martin off and has taken his back! Potter looking to hold on to the position here but Martin rolls and ends up regaining guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Potter slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Potter is looking to take a break and control but Martin is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Potter might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Martin haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Martin manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Potter is working for an americana but Martin has been sneaky and has managed to get back to half guard, whilst Potter was thinking about the submission. Martin working a defensive guard here.
Martin utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Potter wants to control from the top but Martin keeps moving. Potter is looking to pass into half guard but Martin pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Martin is in guard. Potter is pulling down on Martin's head to control his posture. Martin stopping the sweep attempt from Potter.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Potter manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Martin manages to get himself to full guard.
Potter wants to control from the top but Martin keeps moving. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Potter showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Potter looking to pass the guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Carter Martin dominated that second round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
Potter dives in and scores a takedown into Martin's guard. Martin keeping moving, preventing Potter from controlling successfully. Potter throwing strikes from guard but Martin blocks nicely. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Potter not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Potter accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
That's one minute gone in the round. Potter in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Potter is working Martin over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Potter controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Potter trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Potter working some strikes from top position. Potter's corner is telling him to maintain position. Martin has momentary wrist control but Potter slips an elbow through the middle. Potter looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Potter working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Potter shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Potter was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Potter is looking to take a break and control but Martin is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Potter slows the pace down. Potter passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Martin!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Potter pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Potter jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Martin is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Martin and Potter has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Potter throws an elbow but Martin slips to the side and avoids it well. Potter trying to control the position but Martin is working away. Martin defending against the ground and pound. Alexander Potter has got the better of the ground game so far. Potter taking a breather here. Potter working the ground and pound but Martin is defending the strikes.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Potter lands an elbow. Potter taking a break here but Martin is having none of it and regains half guard. Potter is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Martin sees it coming and defends easily. Potter trying to control from half guard but Martin is working away. Potter is figuring out what he wants to do next. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Martin is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
And that's the end of the fight! Alexander Potter comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Potter has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
