Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jammu Seta! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gideon Navarro! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Seta lands with a good body shot. Navarro swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Navarro connects with a single shot there.
It looks like Jammu Seta has been cut. Navarro swings and misses with a shot to the body and Seta counters with a left and a right that stings Navarro. Navarro bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Seta shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Navarro pinned against the cage. Navarro gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Seta takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Navarro throws a looping overhand right but Seta ducks down to avoid it. Seta attempts a counter takedown but Navarro avoids it well and moves away.
That's one minute gone in the round. Seta moves out of range of the strikes. Navarro throws a right hand that misses
and Seta counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Seta advances to half guard. Seta is working for a submission of some sort.
Seta prevents Navarro from standing back up.
Seta trying to control the action but Navarro is working from the bottom. Navarro kicks off Seta and gets to his feet. Seta takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Nice defenses there by Seta.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A slapping leg kick lands for Navarro.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Seta gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Seta keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Navarro. Seta half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. Navarro connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Jammu Seta's cut is getting worse. Navarro is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Seta. Navarro with a nice cross. Navarro scores with a body shot.
Navarro scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Navarro drops Seta with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Seta looks back up at him and smiles so Navarro waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Navarro lands a big head kick that sends Seta to the canvas! Navarro follows up with strikes from the mount that forces the ref to step in and stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Gideon Navarro! Gideon Navarro seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
