The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Daniels tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Garret manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Daniels tries to move into range but Garret moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
James Daniels seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Daniels shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

A little jabbing left from Garret on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Daniels tries to close the distance and clinch but Garret swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

and Garret counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

It looks like James Daniels has been cut.

Garret cracks Daniels with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Garret has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Daniels to stand back up!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Daniels is wiping some vaseline out of his eye. Garret doesn't give a rats ass about fair play and cracks him with a massive hook to the side of the head! Daniels crumples to the floor out cold! The cornerman is going to be in Daniels's bad books for that mishap!
