Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jake The Dog (ranked 1976 p4p, 260 weight class) and Wallace Cobb (ranked 3243 p4p, 404 weight class). The Dog comes to the cage accompanied by Meditation Time. Wallace Cobb has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jake The Dog!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Wallace Cobb!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Frank Dennis and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cobb connects with a looping right hand.
The Dog misses with a hook
and Cobb counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Cobb gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Cobb scores with a crisp jab that stopped The Dog in his tracks.


It looks like Jake The Dog has been cut.
Jake The Dog seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The Dog walks into a left hand.
Cobb throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Cobb throws a hook but The Dog avoids it easily.
The Dog looks to throw the jab but Cobb is out of range.

The Dog closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Cobb quickly recovers to half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The Dog is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Cobb can do anything to dispel that myth.

The Dog has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Cobb's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Cobb manages to get to his feet, escaping the difficult position.

Cobb moves into range and connects with a jab.

The Dog throws a leg kick but Cobb sees it coming and moves out of range.
Cobb takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
The Dog throws a chopping leg kick but Cobb manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
The Dog looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Cobb swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
The Dog tries to clinch there but Cobb circles away.
The Dog lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.

and Cobb connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Cobb misses with a hook. The Dog ducked under it nicely.
The Dog dodges the punch combination from Cobb.
Wallace Cobb is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
The Dog throws a predictable looking body shot
and Cobb counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Nice defenses there by Cobb.
The Dog connects with a single shot there.

Cobb throws a series of punches but The Dog avoids them all with ease.

The Dog has Cobb up against the cage in a clinch.
This has been an exciting period of action!

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Cobb's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

The Dog moves into range and clinches up with Cobb.

Cobb manages to break the clinch.
Good work by Cobb as he checks the leg kick.

enabling Cobb to counter with a crisp jab.
Cobb cracks The Dog with a good jab.
Cobb swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and The Dog counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by The Dog.
The Dog throwing strikes from guard but Cobb blocks nicely.
The Dog stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cobb swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The Dog stops Cobb from standing up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jake The Dog will probably get the nod.

That's time! The Dog's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Cobb lands a two punch combo.
The Dog shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Cobb shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Wallace Cobb seems to be getting the better of the standup.
The Dog cracks Cobb with a good jab.
Cobb throws a lazy uppercut

and The Dog counters with a takedown into side control.

Cobb explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The Dog throws a hook to the side of Cobb's head but Cobb sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Cobb lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but The Dog circles away quickly and effectively.

Cobb lunges at The Dog with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by The Dog's hand.

The Dog drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Cobb is pushing The Dog's head away, looking to escape. The Dog manages to hold on to the position though.

Cobb takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
The Dog in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
The Dog misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
The Dog tries to advance to mount but Cobb denies him.
The Dog looks up at the clock and then as Cobb takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, The Dog smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

The Dog has hold of Cobb's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Cobb tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - The Dog cranks the arm and Cobb screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Cobb, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:18 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Jake The Dog!
After the fight, Jake The Dog was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
