PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between William King (ranked 541 p4p, 67 weight class) and Terryn Dall (ranked 564 p4p, 71 weight class). King comes to the cage accompanied by Summer Sixteen By: Drake. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 33 - 17 - 2, fighting out of Montreal, William King!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Terryn Dall!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
King fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Dall checks it well.
Dall is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
King swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
King tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Dall is able to avoid easily.
Dall throws a counter combo.
King feints and then cracks Dall's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Dall down.
King is looking to slow Dall down with leg kicks.
King lands a body shot.
Dall slips under a jab.
King looks to land a left hand but Dall moved out of range nicely.
Dall is trying to counter with his kicks.
King misses with an uppercut
and King takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

William King seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
King tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Dall was well out of range. Poor timing from King.
King throws a big shot that misses.
Dall tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
King fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
A solid body kick from King.
King misses with a looping right.
And Dall tries to counter it with a takedown but King pushes his down on his head and steps out.

and Dall counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Dall checks a low kick from King.
King scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
King tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Dall was well out of range. Poor timing from King.
King sets himself, and Dall steps forward looking for the clinch! King avoids it this time.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

King throws a jab but it's blocked by Dall.
Dall swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.

King lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
King throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Dall throws out a counter right but King avoids it with no problem.
King waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Dall.
A little jabbing left from Dall on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Dall gets cracked there but stands up to it.
King misses with a hook to the body
and King takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
King missing with a left hand there. Dall was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Dall.
William King is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
King lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Dall at a distance.
Some bone on bone action there as Dall checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Dall drops down looking to force a counter takedown but King defends it well.
Dall moves out of range of the strikes.
Dall ducks under a wild hook from King.
Dall changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Dall thumps King with a low kick.
Good exchange - King coming out on top.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from King. Dall shrugs it off though.
King throws a lazy body kick
enabling Dall to counter with a crisp jab.
King misses the shot to the body.
Dall counters with a body kick.
A big left from King misses.
Dall throws the left hand but King avoids the punch easily.

King digs a good hook to Dall's body.
King misses with a combination

and Dall counters with a single leg into guard. King didn't expect that.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Dall throws an elbow that misses. King uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Dall's guard. Nice move by King!


Dall working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. King doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. King manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Dall has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Dall is looking for a triangle here but King uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Dall is looking for a sweep.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

William King dominated that round.

Dall stalling away here and it's allowed King to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Dall postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Dall missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
King preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Dall drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and King dives on top into guard.

Dall is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. King is aware though and is defending well.

Dall is working on a guillotine. He's managed to get to full guard and he's really squeezing tight! King is tapping! Great win for Dall!

After the fight, Terryn Dall was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
