Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Carol Macias! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Lartem Obov! The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Chris Saunders and Jeff Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Macias lands with a shot to the body. Obov throws a head kick that misses. Obov fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Macias, pushing him back against the cage. Obov has Macias pressed against the cage, preventing Macias from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Obov using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.

Macias wants to break the clinch but can't.
Obov is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Obov manages to break the clinch.
Macias avoids the head kick by Obov.
Macias is looking for a counter combo. Macias really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Obov misses with a few strikes there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Macias fails with an attempt to clinch.
Obov scoring well with a low kick there.
Macias throws a right hand that Obov ducks under and follows up with a left that Obov also avoids with ease. Macias displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Obov throws out the jab. Obov closes the distance and pushes Macias back into the cage. Macias on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Obov scores with a nice hook to the head. Macias tries to circle away but Obov has him pinned against the cage. Obov jumps guard and drags Macias to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Obov is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Obov escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Macias gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Obov wants to sweep here but Macias controlling him for the moment. Obov looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Macias has picked Obov up and slammed him! Obov can't keep hold of the triangle and Macias manages to pass to side control! Obov sneaks back into half guard. Obov is looking to escape. Obov makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Macias has his takedown stuffed and Obov counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Macias misses with an attempted mid kick.
Obov wants to counter with a clinch but Macias pushes him away. No joy there for Macias, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Obov gets in close and instigates a clinch. Obov dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage. A frustrated look appears on Macias's face as he tries to break the clinch. Macias takes an elbow to the temple.
It looks like Carol Macias has been cut.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Macias wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Obov escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Macias delivers a nice body kick. Macias fails with a takedown attempt. Macias takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Obov takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Obov closes the distance and pushes Macias back into the cage. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Macias on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Lartem Obov dominated that round. The cut man is working on Carol Macias's cut. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Good leg kick by Macias there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Obov closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Macias did well to prevent Obov getting side control.
Macias is rocked! Obov seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Macias is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
