PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ivan Shine (ranked 5632 p4p, 0 weight class) and Igor Crazy (ranked 3175 p4p, 0 weight class). Crazy comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Mienteme kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ivan Shine!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 30 - 25 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Igor Crazy!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Tiny Johnson and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Crazy takes the fight into the clinch.

Shine is looking to break free of the clinch but Crazy has double underhooks.

It looks like Ivan Shine has been cut.

The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

Crazy throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.

Shine is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Crazy is defending well for now.

Crazy tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Shine avoids it.
Crazy lands a right hand that snaps the head of Shine backwards.

Crazy is pressed up against the cage. Shine has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Crazy down to the mat. Crazy avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Shine darts in and clinches Crazy up against the cage.

Shine stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Crazy takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Crazy gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Shine.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ivan Shine. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Shine misses with the head strike.

Shine pulls Crazy into guard.
Crazy stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Shine swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Crazy sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Shine's guard.

Crazy perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Crazy is pressing down on Shine's thigh, looking to free his foot. Shine is holding on for now.
Crazy thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Shine's head.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Crazy works his way into full mount!
My spies in Tayne's 4d3d3d3 Gym inform me that Crazy has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Crazy postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Shine looks a forlorn figure.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Shine's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Crazy closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Shine did well to prevent Crazy getting side control.

Crazy has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Crazy is looking to advance position but Shine won't allow it.

Crazy content to control rather than advance.
Crazy has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Crazy working over Shine with some ground and pound. Shine looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

Crazy looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Shine with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Crazy not doing much here.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Crazy connects with a nice short shot to Shine's temple.
Crazy is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Crazy in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Shine tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Crazy!
