Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dan Sudo (ranked 3520 p4p, 344 weight class) and Herschel Pettaway (ranked 1101 p4p, 127 weight class). Pettaway is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Empire State of Mind - Jay Z. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Dan Sudo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Herschel Pettaway! The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Shigeki Sano and Yasuomi Hirokawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pettaway connects with a nice looking jab.
Pettaway scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Nice straight punches there by Pettaway. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Pettaway. Sudo looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Sudo misses with a takedown and Pettaway counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Pettaway stuffs the takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dan Sudo. That's going to take a lot out of him. Sudo shoots in for a takedown but Pettaway shows good takedown defense. Sudo misses with a takedown and Pettaway counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. No luck for Sudo with that takedown attempt. Pettaway's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Pettaway duly obliges. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Pettaway clinches. Pettaway effectively controlling the action here. Sudo wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Pettaway lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Sudo.
That's one minute gone in the round. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Sudo. Pettaway has Sudo pushed against the cage. Sudo fails to pull guard.
Sudo pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Sudo has his takedown stuffed and Pettaway counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Sudo shoots and misses letting Pettaway counter with a right hand. Sudo fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Pettaway clinches. Pettaway prevents Sudo from breaking the clinch. Pettaway unloads a knee to the mid-section. Sudo lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. Sudo is breathing heavily. Pettaway cracks Sudo with a nice body shot. Pettaway utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pettaway lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Sudo or not. Sudo tries to pull guard but Pettaway forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Pettaway lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Sudo backwards. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Pettaway working Sudo over with knees to the body. Pettaway leaning against his opponent.
Pettaway's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. Sudo stalling against the cage.

Sudo is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace. Pettaway has Sudo pressed against the cage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pettaway lands a right hand. Sudo letting Pettaway take a breather here. Sudo tries to pull guard but Pettaway forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Pettaway lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage. Pettaway landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Sudo is trying to pull guard but Pettaway turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Pettaway's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows. Pettaway continues to stall. The referee tells him to work or he's going to break them up. Sudo is trying to maintain a safe position but Pettaway gets an underhook and turns Sudo into the cage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sudo breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Sudo on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Pettaway darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Pettaway throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena. Sudo misses with a takedown attempt and Pettaway connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Pettaway moves into range and clinches up with Sudo. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Pettaway gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
It looks like Dan Sudo has been cut. A body shot lands from Pettaway.
Sudo tries to break the clinch but Pettaway is controlling the position. Pettaway lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage. Sudo jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Pettaway walks away with a smile on his face. Sudo gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Jab, jab by Pettaway - just one landing. Herschel Pettaway is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Sudo takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Dan Sudo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Pettaway scores with a hook. A kick lands to the mid section there for Pettaway. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Herschel Pettaway dominated that round. The cut man is working on Dan Sudo's cut. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Pettaway throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges. Pettaway lands a body shot. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sudo wants to take the fight to the mat but Pettaway manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dan Sudo. That's going to take a lot out of him. Pettaway is leaning against Sudo and scores with a nice uppercut to the body. Sudo has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Pettaway after a bit of a struggle. Pettaway escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

That's one minute gone in the round. Pettaway slaps away a takedown attempt from Sudo, before circling back to the center of the mat. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Pettaway looks to land a combination. Sudo sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Sudo is rocked! Pettaway smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Oh Sudo is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Pettaway Throws a clean left jab. Pettaway Twirls his body and connects with a Spinning Back Fist that connects flush with Sudo's chin! Sudo crumbles to the ground and Pettaway follows up with some unanswered strikes. It's all over!! Nice standup skills displayed by Pettaway!
