PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Lesley Chow (ranked 625 p4p, 0 weight class) and Harry Entei (ranked 1720 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Lesley Chow!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Harry Entei!
The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Michael Johnstone and Bart Greer.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chow doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Entei counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Chow takes a swing at Entei's ribcage but misses.
Entei throws a head kick but Chow moves out of range.
Chow misses the body punch
and Entei counters with a series of strikes. Chow will be more careful next time no doubt.
Entei displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Chow.
As Chow backs off Entei throws a huge counter combo but Chow manages to avoid it all.
Chow closes this distance looking for a takedown but Entei circles away.
Entei is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lesley Chow. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Chow throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Chow misses with a straight right.

Chow closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Chow lands in his opponent's guard.
Entei keeping moving, preventing Chow from controlling successfully.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Chow is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Entei is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Chow controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Entei wants to get back to his feet but Chow is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Entei has Chow pulled in close to control his posture.
Entei wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Chow manages to pass to side control.
Entei trying to control from the bottom.
Entei pushes Chow off but Chow dives into side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Chow tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Entei is trying to get back to his feet.
Chow landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.

Chow working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Entei can do anything to dispel that myth.
Chow prevents Entei from escaping the position.
An elbow from Chow crashes against the mat.
Entei manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Entei felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Entei tries to roll over but Chow keeps him under control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Chow is trying for a kimura here. Entei looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Chow wins by kimura!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Lesley Chow!
