Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Joao Vitor Xavier (ranked 2384 p4p, 0 weight class) and Murphy Leonard (ranked 747 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Winston Alpacca and Peter Branson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Leonard looks for a takedown but Xavier sprawls well.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Leonard is defended easily by Xavier.
Leonard looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Xavier is fending him off so far but Leonard persists. Nope, Xavier circles away and we're back to standing.
Joao Vitor Xavier has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Murphy Leonard.
Leonard shoots for a double leg takedown but Xavier sprawls well. He's pushed Leonard's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
A telegraphed right hand from Xavier misses the target.
Murphy Leonard seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Xavier misses the jab.
Leonard shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Leonard might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Xavier haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Leonard is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Leonard is stalling in the full guard.
Xavier is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Leonard drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Leonard jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
The fighters are working up against the cage. Xavier manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Leonard tries for a takedown. No joy.
Xavier lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Xavier lands a body punch.
Xavier breaks the clinch.
Xavier missing with a left hand there. Leonard was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Leonard fails with a takedown attempt.
Leonard's coach down at Ferocious Beast was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Leonard's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Leonard on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Xavier slaps away a takedown attempt from Leonard, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Xavier pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Leonard drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Xavier is trying to escape the position but Leonard is controlling the position.
Leonard looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Leonard is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Xavier knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Leonard is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Xavier looks calm but he's in trouble here. Leonard gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Xavier is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Leonard lets go of the hold and Xavier can pop his arm back in it's socket.
