The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Poller bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Poller tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Poller has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! LaCroix holds on tight, trying to prevent any damage. LaCroix felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. LaCroix tries to bench press Poller off him but Poller keeps the position. Poller has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for LaCroix! LaCroix holds on for dear life, controlling Poller's posture momentarily. Poller really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Poller is going oldschool here, as he tries to force LaCroix to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so LaCroix shrugs it off. LaCroix is working to get back to half guard.
LaCroix is squirming around, avoiding Poller's attempts to control the action. LaCroix defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Poller. LaCroix wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Poller has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, LaCroix has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
LaCroix rolls, trying to escape but Poller keeps control of the position.
Poller tightening his grip on LaCroix, looking for the choke. LaCroix trying to control the hands but Poller won't let him. LaCroix is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Poller off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted. Poller has got one arm under LaCroix's chin. This could be trouble... LaCroix trying to control the other hand but Poller gets it free and sqeezes tight - just a matter of time now! Yep, LaCroix has tapped out! The fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Jason Poller!
