Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Javier Gonzales!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Jeff Smith and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Gonzales told us before the fight that he's been working on his elbows. An under utilised technique these days - let's see if it can sway the outcome of the fight.

Leach postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Gonzales is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Leach, into his guard.

Leach is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Gonzales is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Leach is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Gonzales must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Leach really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Gonzales is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Leach is looking for a sweep. Gonzales is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Gonzales looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Leach with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Gonzales is sitting in half guard. He's postured up and lands a nice elbow. Oh, Leach is hurt! He's hurt bad - Gonzales fires away with more strikes and the referee jumps in to save Leach from any more punishment! Congratulations to Gonzales! Great finish!

Javier Gonzales tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
