Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jarvis Avalon (ranked 1156 p4p, 166 weight class) and James Kingsley (ranked 1785 p4p, 236 weight class). Kingsley has chosen Alpenglow (instrumental) - Nightwish as his entrance music. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 12 - 0, fighting out of London, Jarvis Avalon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Kingsley!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Sam Margolis and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kingsley throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
We've been hearing reports that Avalon has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
The fight stays on the outside here - Avalon looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Avalon steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Kingsley.
No luck for Avalon with that takedown attempt.
A nice combination there by Kingsley.
Kingsley keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Avalon throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Avalon moves out of range as Kingsley strikes.
A left lands for Avalon.
Kingsley plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Avalon slips under a jab from Kingsley.
Kingsley blocks a jab.
Kingsley dips to his left and cracks Avalon with an uppercut!
Avalon fails with an attempt to clinch.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Kingsley closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Kingsley lands in his opponent's guard.
Avalon is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.


That's one minute gone in the round.
Kingsley makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Kingsley.
Kingsley keeping moving, preventing Avalon from controlling successfully.
Avalon is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Kingsley is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Avalon slips nicely into half guard.
Avalon not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Kingsley is looking for a sweep. Avalon is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Kingsley keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Avalon trying to control from Kingsley's half guard. Kingsley has other ideas though and has regained full guard.

Avalon throws a sloppy strike and Kingsley has hooked up an armbar on the loose arm! He's turned and extended fully! Avalon is forced to tap! Great BJJ from Kingsley!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). James Kingsley!
