Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tyrone Harrison! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tall Man! The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Shigeki Sano and Hirohito Nitta.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Harrison looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Man is trying to counter with his kicks. Harrison pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Harrison swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Man looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Harrison is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Man is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own. Man keeps Harrison at a distance using the push kick. Tall Man seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Harrison gets tackled into the cage by Man. Man maintains the clinch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. The referee calls for Man to work.
Man drags the fight down to the ground.
Man has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Harrison can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
That's one minute gone in the round. Harrison stands up from guard. Let's bang! Harrison misses with a head kick.
Man avoids the head kick by Harrison.
Man lands a jab to Harrison's midsection. Man clinches up against the cage. Man tries a body shot but Harrison blocks it.
Man lands a takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Man trying to control the position from guard on top but Harrison is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Man stays in close to Harrison's body and controls the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Harrison looking for a sweep. Not yet Harrison, not yet. Harrison keeping moving, preventing Man from controlling successfully. Harrison looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Harrison trying to keep a closed guard but Man is proving a slippery customer.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Man is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Harrison's half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Man looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Man wants to control but Harrison is keeping him busy. Man not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Man not doing much here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Man wants to stand up but Harrison is controlling the position.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Man clinches up with Harrison and pushes him back against the cage. Man pulls guard effortlessly. Harrison might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Man has a closed guard, preventing Harrison from standing up. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Harrison gets to his feet. Man looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Man bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tall Man dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Harrison gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Man to score an easy takedown into full guard. Harrison wants to control but Man passes easily into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Man is keen to just control but Harrison is a slippery customer. Harrison wants to control but Man is keeping busy and won't allow it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Man is trying to control the action in half guard but Harrison is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Harrison trying to control from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Harrison tries to get to full guard but Man has control of the leg. Man is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Harrison doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Man. Harrison wants to get back to full guard. Man wants to stand but Harrison has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Man is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. A punch combination from Man misses. We've been informed that Man has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. Man has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Harrison tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Man manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Man darts in and clinches Harrison up against the cage. Man escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Man lands a nice looking body shot.
Man feints and as Harrison raises his hands in defense, Man changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Harrison working a defensive guard here.
Man missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Man must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Harrison striking off his back but it's not causing Man any problems. Harrison throws his legs up looking for a submission but Man uses it to pass to side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Man trying to control the position but Harrison is working away. Man stands up and beckons Harrison to his feet. Man closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Harrison wants to control but Man postures up. Man wants to control but Harrison is keeping him busy. Man throws a strike aimed at the side of Harrison's head but Harrison avoids it well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Man tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Man is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Harrison has escaped the position, nice work there. Harrison sneaks back into half guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Man postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Harrison to stand up. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Man shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Harrison's guard. Harrison looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Man passes into half guard.
Man thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tall Man showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!
Harrison throws a sloppy head kick and Man moves out of range easily. Man clinches with his opponent.
Harrison is trying to force a seperation but Man has the dominant position. Man tightens his grip and picks Harrison up, before dumping him to the ground. Harrison manages to land in guard. Man works over Harrison with some ground and pound from guard. Man trying to control but Harrison is working from the bottom. Harrison trying to control the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Man content to stall in guard here. Harrison with a couple of shots from the bottom there - nothing Man can't handle though.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Harrison trying to keep a closed guard but Man is proving a slippery customer.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Man misses with a jab, cross combination.
Man uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Harrison.
And Man tries to counter it with a takedown but Harrison pushes his down on his head and steps out. Tyrone Harrison is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Man avoids the head kick by Harrison.
Man tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Harrison was well out of range. Poor timing from Man. Tall Man is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Man moves into the clinch successfully.
The referee calls for Man to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Man has clasped his hands together around Harrison's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Man wants to lay and pray for a moment but Harrison keeps working. Harrison can't do much from the bottom here. Harrison tries to strike from the bottom but misses. Man working away. Man goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Harrison has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Man but great work by Harrison.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Harrison wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Man, who protects the arm well. Man wants to get back to his feet but Harrison drags him back down. Man is looking for a sweep. Man on the wrong end of some ground and pound. Harrison cracks Man with a big elbow. Harrison decides to stand back up. Man feints and as Harrison raises his hands in defense, Man changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Harrison keeping moving, preventing Man from controlling successfully. Harrison working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Man doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Man manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Harrison is pulling down on Man's head. It's preventing any offense from Man, at least for the moment. Man is looking to work some ground and pound but Harrison has wrist control. Man throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Harrison is trying to keep Man in close.
Tyrone Harrison has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Tall Man is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Man stands up and waves to Harrison to follow him.
And that's the end of the fight! Tall Man comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Man has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
