Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Daryl Mathews! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Robert Spence! The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, James Ackerman and Steven Brown.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Spence moves into the clinch. Mathews breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Spence misses with the combination.
Mathews went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. Spence closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Spence is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Spence wants to break the clinch but can't.
Spence tries to throw a body punch but Mathews avoids it by throwing Spence back against the cage. A head punch blocked on the inside by Spence. Spence stops a takedown attempt from Mathews.
Mathews goes for a takedown in the clinch but Spence prevents it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Spence is trying to break free. Mathews letting Spence take a breather here. Mathews is looking for a takedown. Spence manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Spence is fighting off a takedown attempt but Mathews is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Spence to the mat. Spence regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Spence wants to stand and escape but Mathews is having none of it. Mathews landing with the ground and pound. Mathews won't allow Spence to get back to his feet. Spence manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Spence throws a body kick that misses. Spence gets tackled into the cage by Mathews. Mathews maintains the clinch. Spence pressing his opponent against the cage. Mathews tries for a takedown. No joy.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Spence lands a right hand. Mathews pulls guard successfully.

Spence pushes Mathews up against the cage in a clinch. Mathews tries a body shot but Spence blocks it.

Spence moves into the clinch. Spence lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Mathews backwards.
It looks like Daryl Mathews has been cut. Mathews is breathing heavily.

Spence's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Spence connects with a nice cross there... Mathews is looking wobbly and Spence recognises it - he's rushed in and lands two more brutal shots that send Mathews to the canvas, out cold! A brutal finish to the fight - Spence jumps onto the cage to celebrate with the crowd!
